 Flourish Floral Environmentally Friendly Vases

Eco-florist, Flourish (www.flourishflorals.com), uses these biodegradable, colour and ribbon coordinated decorative Blume Boxes to deliver and display bouquets in for a more eco-friendly way. Use on the head table for both décor and keeping your bouquets fresh. Available in a wide range of colours and designs to suit any wedding. Another bonus - you won’t have glass vases to lug around or return! Blume Boxes are re-usable and completely recyclable, light weight and collapsible (which also means more fuel efficient shipping and delivery). Ribbons are also made from recycled paper, printed using waste-reducing solid ink technology. Cost is $7 to $10, with coordinating ribbon.

A fun way to spice up the champagne at your shower, bachelorette or wedding reception, these unique wild hibiscus flowers (left) are edible. They’re grown and picked in Australia, then infused in spring water and cane sugar syrup. With many versatile ways to use the sweetly delicious flower (including on cheesecake, in sundaes or for martinis), our favourite is in champagne.

Place the flower and a bit of the syrup in a champagne glass, pour in the bubbly and watch as the champagne turns pink and the bubbles open up the flower. Available from Cry If I Want To (www.cryifiwantto.com), a small jar with 11 flowers costs $16, and a large jar with 50 flowers is $50.

You won’t mind if it’s raining on your wedding day with these cute but cheeky umbrellas. Each design comes with its own attitude and message. This umbrealla says: “I prefer umbrellas in my cocktails”. Choose a different one for each bridesmaid, based on personality: “Rain doesn’t dare mess my hair”; “I need a coffee”; “When does it start raining men?”; “I sizzle in the drizzle”; “This is shopping weather”. Available from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca) for $38 each.

We’re all about continuity when it comes to keeping all of your wedding day details tied together, which is why we love this matching stationery from Designed By Yours Truly (www.designedbyyourstruly.com) that uses the same colour scheme and designs throughout all pieces.

You can, of course, get your stationery custom made to suit your needs and themes, but this set includes invites for $8 each (including map, RSVP, etc.), favour boxes for $4 each ($4.50 with tags), petal cones for $3.25*, tri-fold table number/menu combo for $2.50 each, and take-out boxes for $2 each (including wrap-style label). *Silk hydrangea petals sold separately from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca): $9.48 for package of 300 petals.

The new Mr. & Mrs. can have their own toasting glasses (left) for the reception with these classy flutes that are available from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca) for $40.70 for the set of two.

A sweet topper for your cake, this figurine depicts the bride and groom in a tender embrace (right).

Also available in African-American and Hispanic, for $33.49 from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca).

(LEFT) It's fun watching tiny water pearls (about the size of the acrylic confetti seen below) grow into the marble-sized gems you see here (a throwback to the days of sea monkeys).

These are an inexpensive and versatile centrepiece option. Each bottle (for $23.15) contains 150 mL of large water pearls, which is enough to fill a 5 gallon water pail. And you only need one teaspoon to make about 2 cups of hydrated pearls.

They come clear from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca) but can be custom coloured by hydrating them with a water and dye solution (i.e. food colouring). The best part? They can be dehydrated and reused!

And since, as you know, we happen to love anything that sparkles, this acrylic diamond confetti (below) from WeddingFavours.ca (www.weddingfavours.ca) definitely caught our eyes immediately. They'd be a great way to add a little bling to your tabletop or centrepieces. And, it's a pretty inexpensive way to glam up the décor a bit at just $6 for about 1,000 pieces (or a third of a cup).

Available in 12 sparkling colours: amber, amethyst, onyx*, light amethyst, blue sapphire, pink sapphire*, diamond*, brown topaz, light pink sapphire, aquamarine, garnet and peridot. *These colours shown below.
