Professional BC Wedding Awards
A Magical Night in Vancouver!
What an amazing night we had on November 30th at the Professional BC Wedding Awards! Upon arriving on the red carpet at the Red Robinson Show Theatre, we were welcomed by the Awards director who gave us our Press Passes (very pretty ones - happy to wear those around our neck!). We felt all newsy as we entered the Theatre which was filled with the beautiful people of the wedding industry in BC.
As well as all the networking that was going on, there was a catering competition which had five of the best caterers in lower Mainland battling it out for Best Hor D'Hoeuvres. The winners were, of course, us! We munched and sipped our way around the large room, and put our vote in for the beet waffle cones created by the Boulevard Casino, which were seriously delicious!
Then, it was onto the show! After a great intro from Fred Lee, of CBC Radio, and a few words from Justin Eckersall, Show Producer, we headed right into the the reason everyone was attending. Sarah and Aubrey, of the Shaw Cable Wedding Belles, kept the rest of the evening hopping (literally at one point) while handing out the awards. Energy is not a problem for these gals! Nor for Fred Lee!
A highlight for The Ring was when the Finalists for Best Wedding Detail Photographer were announced. Not only were they both from Vancouver Island but one was an Expert from The Wedding Ring! Congrats to both Jenna and Tristan Photographers and KGoodPhoto (our Ring gal!) for their incredible photos! And we were blown away by the Best Videography finalists which we watched on the massive screens on either side of the stage. Check the photos and videos out at www.bcweddingawards.com .
After the awards were all handed out, we ate more appies while listening to live music and all the congratulations being exchanged (along with a lot of business cards and twitter addresses!). And talked to the Wedding Belles - which was so much fun! Can't wait to attend again next year!
The Show Producers chatted with myself and my guest, Lisa, at length about how they would really like to see more submissions from Vancouver Island so that it truly includes all of British Columbia. So - what do you all think? We know we rock over here, so let's get lots of submissions in next year!!
