Reception Kissing Games

Originating in Europe, the tradition has been for the bride and groom to kiss when guests clink their glasses with silverware. But this tradition has become tiresome for most brides, not to mention, many venues don’t allow you to tap their dishes anymore. For fun, new ways to get the bride and groom to kiss during their reception, we turned to brides in The Ring’s chat forums, and here’s what they suggest…

Colleen suggests “a mini-golf putting hole. If someone gets a hole in one you would have to kiss.” Whereas at her wedding, Dansay had “hula hoops and made the guests hula for five seconds in order to make us kiss.”

littlestace thinks it could be fun to have guests play WiiTM Sports Bowling, and if they bowl a strike, you’re locking lips with your new husband. Or, to serenade you during dinner, excitedbride2be suggests “people sing a song with the word love in it.”

TammyF is “having people sing their favourite 80’s song,” in light of her FH’s love for 80’s music. vicky_d suggests having guests “come up onto the dance floor with a partner and kiss first,” then you have to imitate. Or get their minds working and make guests tell a story about you and/or your husband; or answer some trivia about the both of you.

A more meaningful idea, suggested by E, is to have “a jar and the guests have to make a donation to a charity you choose to get you to kiss.” Phoozles had her guests play a game of chance by offering a spinning wheel with a few spaces filled with ‘bride and groom kiss’, and others with things like ‘make funny animal noises’.

venusrockstar suggested having “a large kissing dice that people have to toss and depending on what number you get there are different options, like kiss someone else in the room. Two sides of the dice have lips on them and if it lands on that the bride & groom kiss.”

These are just some of the suggestions out there – if you’re still stuck on what to do, your DJ will likely have some ideas as they’ve seen a lot of these games in action. And even if guests don’t participate in your kissing games, they are bound to see you and your new husband kiss throughout the evening as your wedding bliss will likely override your fear of public displays of affection.
