With backgrounds in the hospitality industry, a natural eye for style and design, hundreds of weddings (including weddings for hit shows on SLICE!), and an obvious love for ‘all things wedding’, Kim and her team are making their mark with past, present and future Southwestern Ontario brides.

From décor rentals and ‘day of’ planning to full décor, full planning and floral design, The Creative Bride brings years of experience to their brides and offers a fresh, fun and out-of-the-box approach that past brides adore.

And whether you’re looking for the perfect chair cover or, full-blown glam décor, Kim and her team can work with any bride, on any budget. In fact, their philosophy is to treat every wedding with as much care and attention as they would their own.

Here’s why we think you’ll love having these wedding event gurus working to make your wedding dreams a reality…

Personally speaking…

In 2002, Kim graduated from Sheridan College with a Diploma in Visual Art and Textile Design and, after graduating, made costumes for productions at the Stratford Festival. She also received a Diploma in Professional Floral Design from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design (CIFD) and is a certified wedding planner.

“I love weddings,” Kim told The Ring. “I have a natural artistic flair and working with brides lets me use my skills to help those who might not have that.” Kim are her team are constantly updating these skills. “We are continuously immersed in weddings, researching in wedding magazines, websites and television shows to stay on top of and be aware of the newest styles and trends,” – knowledge that they are more than happy to pass on to brides.

Kim has been a part of the wedding industry since 2003, starting out in hospitality doing Sales & Marketing, Catering and assisting with planning events and conferences for large groups in hotels. For five years she was surrounded by weddings and became familiar with the trends and details involved in putting a wedding together, as well as running a business.

And so, in 2006 Kim launched The Creative Bride, combining her love of fabric and design with her passion for events. Today, The Creative Bride is a ‘go to’ for brides in K-W, Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford (and occasionally Toronto) and does over 100 weddings per year- including décor rentals, full décor, floral design and planning. The Creative Bride can do as much (or as little) for your wedding as needed.

After countless weddings, Kim and her team still love it as much as they did when they started, “We love seeing all the planning and ideas come together for a finished product on the wedding day.”

Innovative, Fresh & Inspiring Ideas

The Creative Bride’s specialty is, “clean, crisp designs that are interesting, modern and trendy. Most brides hire us because they see that we have a real passion for their wedding, to make it the best day for them. We take great care in our consultation to go over many different ideas to make sure brides are happy and the budget is met,” Kim told us. “We help them with advice, even if it’s in regards to a service that we are not providing them with; if we can help them, we will.”

Brides that choose The Creative Bride tend to love innovative, new and hip ideas. Kim explains, “They want something a little out of the ordinary or that special personal touch for their day,” she says. “They don’t want the ‘cookie cutter’ wedding. We want to do weddings with brides and grooms who really want their weddings to reflect themselves and why they fell in love.” Kim adds, “We love to take a bride’s idea or inspiration and put it outside of the box to go from the wedding design she ‘likes’ to the wedding design she ‘loves’ so that everyone will talk about it for years to come.”

Lynsey and Steve hired The Creative Bride as their decorator, florist and wedding planner. They told The Ring:

“The Creative Bride has a sophisticated, yet very fun style of decor. I could tell they love working with couples looking for unique decor. I would highly recommend The Creative Bride to every couple. They are a pleasure to work with, will go above and beyond to create the wedding of your dreams, and will create a custom package just for you.”

Jen and Mike Donnelly, who had The Creative Bride create a candy buffet and centrepieces for their September  wedding told The Ring that Kim and her team had great ideas but also welcomed theirs. “We worked together to come up with the most amazing candy buffet you have ever seen! They made things simple and handled the details with the hall so I wouldn’t have to… They were just fantastic and took a lot of pressure off of us… They were very prompt when replying to emails and very patient with my ever changing mind!”

“Kim was amazing throughout the whole process!” says Tsha, who used decorating services from The Creative Bride. “I really felt that Kim was able to reflect our tastes as a couple but at the same time make suggestions about what would make our day even greater. She told me (as the bride), not to worry about a thing, and I didn’t. Kim took care of everything for us and did it all beautifully.”

Decorating your dream wedding

With an eye for style, the team at The Creative Bride loves to keep up with the latest in wedding trends. Some favourites include the retro 50’s look…”We can’t get enough of the bright colours!” They recommend skipping black in the colour palette and opt for charcoal grey, brown’s, navy’s and other gorgeous base colours. They especially love to work with couples that have unique and distinguished themes and really want to push the envelope- think “Rock n Roll, “Nautical” or a “Graffiti” themed wedding!

But whatever your décor preference is, The Creative Bride offers a variety of decoration rentals, including backdrops, ceiling canopies, chair covers, centrepieces, head table décor, table runners and overlays, and archways.

And if The Creative Bride doesn’t have something that you want, they can get whatever you’re looking for at a great price.

“Knowing how much we were able to trust Kim throughout the whole process helped lift a big weight off our shoulders,” says Tsha. “I remember walking into the reception hall and being amazed with the work Kim and her team had done, and we didn’t have to lift a finger!”

Fabulous floral design

In 2008, Kim received her Professional Floral Designer Diploma to complement her skills as a decorator.  “It’s all about adding a new and unusual touch to make the bouquets as unique as the bride herself,” says Kim.

“The Creative Bride creates unique and creative floral designs to make your wedding the talk of the town,” says Kim. “Using tropical and rare flowers is our specialty as well as incorporating Swarovski crystals into your bouquet to create not just stunning floral design, but floral art that sparkles just as much as you do!”

The Creative Bride can do this for centrepieces, bride bouquets, boutonnières and corsages. Each floral arrangement is conditioned to make sure the flowers stay beautiful throughout the day and they will drop them off to your location on your wedding day.

Vanessa and Jonathan Luff say they choose The Creative Bride for their excellent reputation for design, professionalism and creativity. “Their style is fun yet classy and elegant. My favourite moment was when they delivered  the bouquets to my home. The Creative Bride team drove out of their way to drop them off and the first glance brought a tear to my eye… they were exactly what I wanted and I didn’t even choose the flowers!”

Organizing your perfect day

Wedding planning is also a popular service offered by The Creative Bride. All of their wedding planners are WPIC certified, have extensive event management backgrounds, and of course, are experienced in décor and floral design. This gives brides peace of mind, knowing that their big day is safely in the hands of qualified professionals.  The Creative Bride offers a variety of planning packaged to suit every bride’s unique needs.

From local experts to national TV

As The Creative Bride became a wedding industry favourite, they began working with several television shows that aired on Slice. The Creative Bride did the décor and flowers for In-Law Wedding Wars in 2011, and Kim was the art director for all of their in-studio shoots. Kim was also part of the production team on Four Weddings Canada. As the floral designer for Four Weddings Canada she recreated bouquets as well as set arrangements for seasons one and two of this popular show! She’s also been interviewed as a wedding expert on City TV’s Breakfast Television.

Details, details, details

  • Kim suggests booking her décor and floral design services 6 months to a year before the wedding. However, Creative Bride has been known to take on wedding emergencies the same week as the wedding. If they can help, they will!
  • Wedding planning should also be booked 6 months to a year (or more) in advance, so The Creative Bride can get started coordinating your perfect day as soon as possible.
  • Depending on what The Creative Bride is doing for your wedding, a $250 to $1000 deposit is due at booking.
  • The remainder is due five days before the wedding.

Full décor with flowers averages between $2000-4000 depending on your choices. But there really is no minimum or maximum budget with them. Wedding planning starts at $750.

We've seen Kim making deliveries and setting up for our couples at several of the weddings we photograph. Her couples are always raving about how much attention to detail she puts towards the task and how easy she is to work with. With so many positive reviews from just the weddings we see her at, one can only imagine the sheer number of couples that would have been lost without her. Since our service is often one of the first vendors booked, we always recommend The Creative Bride to our couples for her great prices, flexible offerings, and various levels of involvement you can have her team be ready to provide... something for every bride really! Keep up the great work!

I ordered a few things from The Creative Bride for a wedding I was the maid of honour in and found it easy and convenient. To save on shipping costs (since I live in Waterloo and it's located in Cambridge), Kim met me in an in between location so I could pick up the products instead. The personalized lip gloss (for favours) and wedding day survival kit were unique and were both a HUGE hit at the bride's bachelorette party. There was so much neat stuff in The Creative Bride's online store that I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted; but Kim was awesome with helping me choose the items that best suited me and my guests.
