Local Resident's Life Celebrated with 7 Limousines

On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, David Winston Ferguson, founder and co-owner of Brentwood Livery – “The Limousine People,” went on to celebrate his life in eternity with his Creator. 300 people from his local community joined to honour his life here in Waterloo. 

Family, friends, staff and clients gathered at a celebration service this past September 10th @ 2:30pm to honour his life.  The service was held outdoors on the Ferguson Family Property in Bridgeport to accommodate all who wished to attend.  A live band led the group in worship music with the eldest son, Pastor Bryan Ferguson and the immediate family involved in the entire ceremony of tributes to a beloved husband, father and friend. Nine little grandchildren each said farewell and released balloons in honour of their Papa.  Everyone agreed it was an appropriate celebration for a man who deeply impacted his community over the past eighteen years. A processional of 7 Limousines & Limo buses lined Kraft Drive to transport the immediate family to the cemetery for a private service and burial prior to the afternoon Celebration Service.  Shuttle service via limousine was provided for those 300 guests whose cars lined the streets neighbouring the family property.

Surrounded by his family, David was ready to leave his life here on earth, to meet his creator, after a year of a strong fight against cancer.  It may have stolen his life on earth but not the impact he had on his community.  He believed in people and in relationships and built the family business with his wife Marilyn, daughter Beverley, and son Brent with old fashioned ' friendly customer service' as a number one priority.  He loved meeting people and chauffeuring them on many occasions - especially weddings, anniversaries and special events. Brentwood Livery has grown to employ 20 chauffeurs, dispatchers & detail staff.  Read for yourself what some Brentwood clients thought and wrote about David on this occasion.

“My heart broke when I read of David's passing. Although we are glad he is pain free and in eternal peace, we will so miss his big smile and even bigger heart. I remember the first time he took us to the airport. He had one limo but big dreams. What a success Brentwood has become over the past 17 years, thanks to David's commitment, integrity and honesty. He was a true professional, but also a compassionate and caring man, husband and father.  We are proud to say we were some of the very first Brentwood Livery customers and remain loyal after 17 years. I have directed many friends, family and clients in the same direction. They all raved about David and Brent and the wonderful, personal service.  David will forever be in our hearts and minds and no trip will ever be the same, as we remember his big smile and how he got us safely to our destination for so many years.”

“The celebration of his life is so fitting for such a worthy wonderful human being.  There is no secret that both Stella and I thought the world of your father and will always remember our early morning drives to the airport for our trips to Vegas…he was always the beginning of our fun trips and he made us feel that he was as excited as we were.   He was a very caring, compassionate and sensitive man who was so proud of his family and his grandchildren.   He was also so proud of the limousine service he had established…  I do not believe there are enough adjectives to describe (David) to the fullest because he was unlike anyone else.   We will miss him and his wonderful smile … but every time we use Brentwood Livery it will be another reminder of his kind soul and a way to honour him.”

Email tributes, flowers, donations and gifts continue to arrive - a display of warmth and love for the family and charities, reciprocating that which was always given by David. Truly David will be missed but his legacy and dreams to serve this community live on.
