Urban Bride brings high fashion dyeable shoes, locally designed hair accessories & jewellery to Cambridge
NINA SHOES @ Urban Bride Boutique The touch of Nina Bridal Footwear provides many stylish options for the contemporary bride. From enchanting sandals to elegant stylish wedding shoes, Nina Shoes promise to give the brides the WOAW-factor! The ONLY one location available, Bridal Nina Shoes @ urban Bride Boutique.

With over ten years of experience in the wedding industry, first as a photographer, then a recent bride, and now the Owner of her shoe and accessories store, Simona Gagliostro of Urban Bride, seems to know what local brides are looking for and what they expect in service when they go out looking for it. Urban Bride is conveniently located in downtown Galt (Cambridge) and is your one-stop shop for your bridal shoes ( including custom design/color shoes), accessories, custom flower girl dresses and more. You get the vast selection of shopping online with the comfort of dealing with a friendly and professional person face to face. Setting this shop apart from larger gown franchises, Urban Bride supports local designers by carrying their lines in her busy shop and using local talent (as well as imported, exclusive, and one-of-a-kind designers) to customize items for her brides – whether it’s adding bows and feathers to accessories or creating unique shoe clips.

The Ring met with Simona at her cool, cozy storefront and found that she had a ton of great samples for brides to browse through. And what we couldn’t find in stock, there was a catalogue we could order from or a fun way to customize what was on the shelf. Combining her love of fashion and photography, Simona offers items to cover many brides' wedding needs in one destination, from classic to trendy – whatever an urban bride needs. And that's why we knew that Urban Bride was destined to be famous among local brides looking for just that - and we were right. Let us tell you more…

Personally speaking…

For the past 10+ years, Simona has been polishing and perfecting her knowledge of and skills in the wedding industry. Photography was always a natural part of Simona's life, which she creatively put to work with her company, Contrast Photography, through which she has been a part of countless weddings.

Then, in September 2009, Simona was a part of her own wedding when she married Roberto Gagliostro. As a recent bride, Simona says she "knows what local brides are looking for and what they expect for service."

While planning her own wedding and working with brides for the past decade, Simona has found that there were a couple of common complaints, "they couldn’t find everything they were looking for in one location and they had to rely on internet shopping for a lot of things," she told The Ring. So, Simona decided to offer a solution.

And that's how Urban Bride came to be in November of 2009 when the store officially opened in Downtown Galt (Cambridge) – a cozy and modern shop with an old fashioned feel and modern décor.

As a lover of fashion and wedding photography, Simona says that opening up Urban Bride was a great opportunity to combine the two. We happen to think that Simona’s eye for great photography and style serve her well at this new venture, not to mention her experience in the industry, professional attitude, and friendly and outgoing demeanor.

Service with a smile & plenty of selection

On top of its convenient location, Urban Bride is also a handy one-stop shop for many wedding needs. But it's not just the great selection that has brides recommending Urban Bride; it's the personal service that comes along with it that makes the shopping experience worthwhile. And we're not the only ones who think so. August 2011 bride, Jennifer Penney, says that if you're looking for the perfect shoe or just an added touch you can't find anywhere else, that Urban Bride is the place to go. She told The Ring, "After looking for months for an appropriate silver shoe that was comfortable and supportive of my tiny feet, I heard about Urban Bride and was so happy I went there! Simona helped me find the right shoe and ordered it in specifically for me, which meant so much! So accommodating!"

Shopping in person at Urban Bride not only allows you to see and try out the products you're interested in before you buy them, but it also allows you to deal face to face with an expert.

Part of this personal service is Simona's effort to make sure that every bride gets what she deserves, which is why, if she doesn’t have what you're looking for in stock at the store, then you can check out her catalogues and order from there. Or, Simona will do the research for you to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Jennifer remembers that when they found the perfect products for her wedding, Simona's smile was as big as hers.

Along the same lines, Mara (a California resident who was planning an September 2011 Ontario wedding at the time), appreciate Simona's attention and willingness to make her far-away planning as easy as possible. When Mara finally got to visit the shop in person, she remembers, "I really loved how modest, friendly and helpful Simona was... She really made me feel good! She stayed late for me to help me to make my choices, she communicated through e-mails a lot, and she was very happy to do anything possible to help me out."

Though, we would be surprised if Urban Bride didn't have what you were looking for. What Sylvia liked most about Urban Bride was the different options she had to choose from. "I could select from shoes, veils, flower girl dresses, and more," she told The Ring. "I would have to say that Urban Bride has amazing selections and I found everything to be modern and decent, just exactly what I was looking for."

Alicia Thijssen knew exactly whats wanted and had gone to various shoe stores all over the region, without any luck, before she came upon Urban Bride. "I knew I wanted a dark red show to fit with my colour scheme. I was also looking for a heel that was peep toe or similar and no more than 4 inches high. Due to the shape of my foot, I had an issue with completely slipping out of the shoes I tried on, regardless of the size. I told Simona about the problem I was having and she took her time and pointed out a variety of shoes that fit the style I was looking for. She worked with me until I found a pair I loved, fit perfectly and matched up the colour to my swatch..." Alicia was so happy with her experience at Urban Bride that she also went back to purchase a headband, flipflops and purse for her July 2011 wedding!

The thing that Bianca liked best about Urban Bride was that you are able to order anything and Simona can get it for you. "There's no need to search around going from store to store. She has a book of all the things she carries and you just choose from there… Saves a lot of time," she says.

In her efforts to leave her customers happy, Simona says she also tries to stay on top of the trends so she's always got the latest styles and products in store. In her experience, Simona has found that more brides are opting for colourful accessories instead of just the traditional white. That's why she plays around with textures and colours to help you create the look and style that will best suit you. Bianca described Urban Bride's style as "very modern and up to date," which was just perfect for her.

What's in store…

Coined as a contemporary bridal accessory store, Urban Bride offers a wide range of products at affordable prices, which vary depending on the product. But, to give you an idea, the average bride spends between $75 and $350 at Urban Bride.

Naming the entire, ever changing inventory would just waste valuable shopping time, so you should really just stop by Urban Bride to see for yourself. Alicia loved both the selection and the style of items she found at Urban Bride. She explained, "I think the name of the store says it all. Urban Bride's style is modern, classy and fun. While the store does carry 'traditional' items, I think the store caters to the bride who is looking for something fun and unique."

But, to give you an idea of some of the stuff Simona's got in store, here's a small list of a few of The Ring's favourite things:

• over 70 styles of bridal and bridal party shoes by Benjamin Walk and Dyeables, Saugus Shoes, Allure Bridal Footwear, Coloriffics and the newest Nina Shoes - Bridal Collection from New York (for $ 75 to $ 200) with over 120 colour choices to dye them and also custom created colors

• hair jewellery, fascinators and feathers (for $35 to $125)

• custom designed veils, headpieces and bird cage veils that are custom made to match your gown for a fraction of the price, all locally made (in the Tri-cities and Toronto area, for $50 to $155)

• Couture style items made by local designers

• Bridal and Evening clutches (for $40 to $75)

• Custom flower girl dresses in medieval, vintage and traditional styles (for $85 to $125)

• Garters by Mary Green or custom design (for $10 to $50)

For us, the absolute best part was the huge selection of different styles of modern shoes, including ones that can be dyed, which Simona says she can take care of for you, too. From glass sandals to sparkling silver shoes for both brides and her maids, Urban Bride would definitely be any shoe-shop-aholic's dream. The fancy flip flops are the best and are ideal for any bride whether she's getting married on a beach or just needs a comfy pair of shoes to dance the night away in.

Brides from Mississauga to London come to Urban Bride for their shoes as Simona told us she sells designer shoes that sell in Toronto for $300 - $ 350 (like Liz Rene Couture, Johnathan Kayne , Allure Bridals) sell for $ 200-250 at Urban Bride. Weekly orders are placed as Simona only carries samples in stock. "You should have your order within three weeks, at the latest, but sometimes as soon as two days," she adds. The colour manufacter's even work with gown designers to match the shoe colours to your gown - like Alfred Angelo, Dessy Bridal and Maggie Sottero. Or, you can give them a swatch of the dress and Simona will send it to them for an exact colour match.

Whatever it is you're looking for, we wouldn't be surprised if you found it, and the service you deserve, at Urban Bride – and brides agree. "I would highly recommend Urban Bride to any couple as it was a great choice for me," says Sylvia. "I would spread the word to any one I know who is getting married."

Mara highly recommends Simona (and her store, of course) to any other couple getting married. "Much more personable than any other bridal salons, a great selections when it comes to shoes and hair accessories or any custom work." Urban Bride is a unique store that was much needed in this area.

New at Urban Bride

Urban Bride recently welcomed the work of UK designer, Wendy MacPherson, to the shop. Simona says that she's exclusive to Urban Bride and offers four main design styles (three peep –toe heels and one sandal) as well as many additional styles to choose from. The shoes are gorgeous and come in a variety of heel heights as well. From vintage to traditional and contemporary, the line is a new favourite at Urban Bride.

Customizing is key

Brides come to Urban Bride partly because they can choose from one of thousands of dyeable shoes, and partly because that's not the only thing you can customize here. Simona says that at Urban Bride, you can customize just about any fashion accessory. Shoes, flower girl dresses, veils, headpieces, fascinators (add feathers, flowers, crystals, pearls and more), and even jewellery. She is the only one in this area who carries Blair Nadeau Millinery’s beautiful feathers and fascinators.

For example, Gallery M is a favourite new one-of-a-kind jewellery line that's clean, elegant, and customizable. With Gallery M, you can choose stones such as quartz, Swarovski crystals, and pearls, and yet still remain within the budgets of most brides - $200 will get you a necklace, earring and bracelet set!

Even the wedding favours in stock can be either engraved or personalized in some way.

The idea behind the products and custom options that Urban Bride offers, is Simona's dedication to her work. She is full of creative ideas and advice for all your wedding dilemmas, making everything more personalized and unique . In her opinion it's all about the brides, so with every new designer shoe line or accessories line she selects, she does so with one thing in mind: how can I do more for brides than they could expect anywhere else? And that's something that turns her brides into lifetime clients, long after the wedding day has come and gone.

After searching bridal stores in K-W area and also looking online ( which did not feel right for any item for my special day, they all look like granny's shoes) I found on The wedding ring web site , Urban Bride. After exchanging a few e-mails, I stopped last week there and I was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection ( talking about many, many, MANY styles)and the reasonable prices of the wedding shoes.
I had my eyes on a simple, elegant pair, but the owner, Simona( i got her name from here, as well) wasn't afraid to tell me that another style would look even better with my dress( showed her the dress on my phone). Also, she showed me the custom shoe clips that you can add on your shoes and i chose a pair with ivory feathers for my green-ish custom dyed shoes.
I loved the place and I loved the fact that she spent more then an hour showing me different options. My shoes will arrive in 2 weeks as i was told and i can't wait to try them on.
Definetely , you can trust Simona's judgement!I really like her creativity!
My shoes are Bianca from Benjamin Walk and they will be customised with feathers shoe clips!!!

I found Urban Bride through this web site about 2 weeks ago.
I went there looking for a veil but i found something even nicer that i hadn’t even consider. I found a beautiful , elegant hair fascinator in a dark lavender that complimented my wedding dress sash. The owner showed me that i could dye my shoes in the same colour as my bridesmaids dresses, which is an Alfred Angelo Eggplant. Should I??? I heard the colours are in style so much these days but I’m not a fashionista.

I wanted to go someplace where I could find bridesmaid shoes for all my girls quickly and easily, and Urban Bride was it. They have a great selection of shoes for brides and bridesmaids in store, and plenty more that can be ordered from catalogs. We ended up ordering the bridesmaid shoes from a catalog and I was surprised by how quickly they came in the store, it was within 2 weeks.

The store owner Simona is very friendly and always willing to help you find just what you're looking for. I'll be going back to check out the jewelry for my bridesmaids. Highly recommend Urban Bride!

I had been looking for shoes everywhere to match my bridesmaid dresses. And did not have any luck. I heard about Urban Bride right here on the wedding ring website. My sister and I visited the store and were greeted by Simona, the owner, who was friendly and informative. Although she did not have my style available on the shelf, I was able to look through her shoe catalogues and select my style. I was even able to colour match my shoes to my bridesmaid dresses. I was able to find the exact shoe that I had imagined in my head. It was perfect! And even better, the turn around time was only 2 weeks!!! I think I may go back and select a pair of matching shoes for my flower girl. I highly recommend all brides to check out the store.

My wedding date moved 7 months earlier, from Summer 2011 to New Years Eve 2011 and imagine that…..rushing everything, the dress, the venue, the guests…

I searched high and low all over the tri-cities area looking for a comfortable and stylish shoe which will go well in the winter. So many open toes shoes and sandals….. Specifically, I wanted a closed toe and closed heel shoe, and there wasn't a lot of selection with that criteria online or in most bridal stores. 3 weeks before the wedding, I popped in at Urban Bride in Cambridge and from the door I saw the shoes that I needed!!! I was in ecstasy having the option not to chose just one pair, but 8 or 9 pairs of close toes shoes!!!

Simona, the owner, made me feel very comfortable trying all the pairs that I wanted. She doesn’t have every size, because she carries the latest bridal styles in the store and she orders every week and all her shoes could be ordered customised in the color you want, but she has a great eye and she is knowledgeable about her shoes.
She spent a lot of time helping me find the perfect shoe and the perfect fit. The Benjamin Walk shoes are the most comfortable shoes as I needed a size 10 Wide and they are also gorgeous, so elegant, but yet, simple. The style that I liked was Meredith and they are embellished with silver beading, so elegant and Simona ordered them in ivory for me. The shoes got here exactly a week before my wedding and Simona chased the UPS trucks in Kitchener to get them here for me…Like, c’mon…who else would do something like that on December 23?
Girls, check the store, which isn’t that big, but she sells a lot in there. In addition to many styles of shoes, there's jewellery, custom veils, feathers and fascinators. I also got a long cathedral cape with ivory fur around which was amazing!
Simona is like your friend going shopping with….you’ll love her! Thank you so much, I hope your store will last forever!

After going to store after store, I was convinced I wouldn't find the right shoes for my wedding. As soon as I walked into the store I saw TONS of shoes that I loved!
Simona helped me to find the pair that fit me best and used the swatch of my bridesmaid's dresses to match up the shoe almost perfectly. They are a beautiful dark red/claret. The shoes came in fast, were very decently priced and exactly what I was looking for!
If you're having trouble finding the shoes you want, Urban Bride is definitely the place to go.

Urban Bride is a unique store that was much needed in this area. When I heard a new bridal accessory store was opening up in Galt, I waited patiently for the grand opening to see if this store could actually satisfy my very, very picky taste in everything wedding! I must stay I am happy I waited.

SHOES; brides, if you are looking for wedding shoes make sure to drop by this store! I had a very specific style and blue colour in mind for my wedding shoes. I wanted the Manolo Blahnik blue shoes Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and The City, but instead of the pointed-toe I wanted open-toe front and I didn’t want to pay $950 for them. I was able to find the right style at Urban Bride and the best part was that shoes were very comfortable such that I was able to wear them the entire day and night at my wedding. Simona had the manufacture custom make the blue colour to match the specific tone of blue in the wedding. The broach that came with the shoe was not as dramatic as I wanted, so I found the broach I wanted and very easily substituted the original for the other ones I found and the shoes were absolutely stunning! Everyone noticed them, and they really completed my look and they were exactly what I was looking for. ~ Mine are the blue ones in the picture above before I changed the broach.

But Urban Bride is not just about shoes, Simona, the store manager is full of creative ideas and advice for all your wedding dilemmas. She was able to help me find the perfect wedding favors for our wedding. And helped me pick the perfect French-net birdcage veil.

The best part, is not only that they have what every bride needs and they can work with your ideas, but that the prices and delivery time is unmatched by other retailers. I am the type of customer who shops around, and in all cases Urban Bride’s prices beat all other places I went to. And it never took Simona a long time to get anything in for me.

Overall I am very happy that Urban Bride has opened up in Cambridge, I know they will make many more brides very happy!

All the best Simona!

Elisia

We got married in Timisoara, on June 26 2010 and a month before our leaving i still didn't have quite a few things that I needed to bring with me. After a few trips to TO, where I couldn't find what i wanted that would fit into our budget, one night i went on this web site and i found Urban Bride, listed as a new store in Cambridge. The next day I went to see it and I was more then pleased to find out that Simona's hometown is the same as mine. On top of that, she had a few pairs of shoes with an european influence, very stylish, and the price was about half of what i've seen in TO. She was able to order the size i needed, a 5.5 within 2 weeks, and this beautiful pair of shoes were silver and they were called Princess.
Simona spent at least an 1.5 h with me finding me a nice hairband and a necklace set with earrings, also imported from Europe. The veil that i chose was very simple and elegant, for $ 80.

What made me happiest , was a beautiful flower girl dress for my little niece back in Romania, that I really wanted to bring with me for the wedding.
The dress didn't have a sash in a royal blue color, and Simona ordered a custom sash in that color and also a blue flower that would match the sash.
That was AWESOME! I packed everything with me and left to Romania with a great sense of satisfaction on finding at the last minute exactly what I needed and at incredible prices!
Simona, I just wanna say Thank you for helping out so much, I can speak highly about your friendly service and the attention that you bring to every single client in your store.
Good luck in your first year in business!

Ramona and Mircea

I had to write a review for Urban Bride and for Simona because she made my special day so much more special! We just returned from an awesome trip in Mexico, where we had our romantic wedding!!!

I heard about the store from a friend of mine and I had to check it out since it was sooo close to home. Not only I saved money and time from not taking multiple trips to the TO but I also found my dream shoes, in my favourite RED colour. The shoes were a big hit with everyone, I received so many compliments, and they were very comfy too. I LOVE THEM! All of my bridesmaids also got their shoes at Urban Bride and we had an awesome time shopping together since the store was so close to all of us! Simona, the owner, was very accommodating and made everyone happy by ordering several different styles to fit all of my bridesmaids’ tastes :). Everyone was happy, as they got to choose their own styles, but they all had the shoes coloured in the same beautiful red.

I got lots of beautiful things from Simona’s store: flip flops for me and my bridesmaids, hair accessories, and unique gifts. Simona was so helpful with my hair accessories; my hair is very fine, and even with my hair up, lots of hair pieces were not staying properly in place. I didn’t want to worry about that so Simona ordered new pieces and helped me try them on until I found the pieces I loved.
I had a fun time checking out the gifts available in the store. It’s a completely different experience than buying online where you cannot check the quality of the products. I’m happy to say that our bridesmaids and groomsmen loved their unique engraved flasks :)

Urban Bride is a fantastic store and you should check it out! I’m sure I’ll come back to the store, as the selection of shoes is great and I have my eyes on a sexy pair ;) Thank you Simona for all your help!

I have a family wedding at the end of August and need to outfit my two girls with flower girl dresses, ballerina flats for their feet and I need silver strappy sandals to wear with my bridesmaid dress…I was very happy to have found all of these items at Urban Bride in Cambridge! The quality they have is great, the selection is wonderful, the prices can’t be beat – I drove from Mississauga to go specifically to THAT store! Simona, the owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable - she really goes above and beyond to make suggestions and offer great advice. If you haven’t checked out the store, I highly recommend it. Thank you Urban Bride!!

As a shoe lover, I didn't want to compromise on my wedding shoes. My wedding color was bright red, like claret, and I would like to get perfect red shoes for my wedding. However, I had very hard time to find it. If I liked the color, I didn't like the design, liked design, color wasn't matched....
When I went to Urban Bride, Simona was so helpful and explain that she can color the shoes. I was so thrilled. I chose the pairs that exactly I was dreamed of, and chose the color that I wanted. Yes, it is like custom made, and I was so happy when I got my pair. (You can see the red pairs on this page! The pair is mine!!!) I brought them to my wedding dress fitting and everyone in the store asked me where I got them. And of course in the wedding, I received so many compliments even more than dress, and as a shoe lover, I am satisfied. Coloring shoes are great idea, because how many times you will wear the white shoes after wedding? I can wear this red shoes for my friends wedding or party or nice dinner out. I can recommend to anyone that this shop can satisfy your dream shoes. Thank you, Simona, you made my day, really, I mean it!!!

I recently went by this store looking for some accessories. Simona was a great help. She took the time to go through her selection of hair accessories until I found just the right one. Same thing with choosing a necklace and earing set. I felt comfortable and great about my decisions. I would highly recommend brides and bridesmaids going by this store - you won't be disappointed.

I was having a terrible time finding modern stylish wedding shoes that didin't cost a fortune . I found Urban Bride while searching on the net one day and I was very happy to see that they were only 20 minutes away from where I live. I hopped in the car and away I went.
As soon as I walked in I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that everything that I had left to buy was in one store. The selection of shoes was outstanding and the owner was extremely helpful. She spent a great deal of time with me helping me to choose the right shoes . She was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable . She wound up ordering me the perfect pair .
I had been back to Urban Bride twice after my first visit. Besides the shoes, I bought a wonderful pair of flip-flops, and a beautiful necklace.

I've recommended this store to all friends.

I recently came across Urban Bride Boutique in downtown Galt...and I am so glad I did. As someone who finds it difficult to make a decision, the owner was right there helping me along the way. I was able to find unique crystal necklaces and matching bracelets for my bridesmaids! Also, I got an amazing feather to wear in my hair for the reception. I wish I had known about their veils before I had purchased mine...they were half the price of what I paid in a Bridal store in Kitchener!! They didn't have the size of dress my flower girl needed, but they are willing to order in for me! My bridesmaids are heading there to buy their shoes!!
