Sweet Pair Photography is a new name in wedding photography, but you’d never know it from looking at their work. As you browse their gorgeous online photo galleries or thumb through portfolios at your first meeting, you’ll be able to see why brides would say there’s soul behind these images, that Olga and Vladimir listen to you, and that they give you the chance to be the best version of yourself on a day you’ll remember for a lifetime.

Owned by Olga Plevak and Vladimir Pajic, Sweet Pair Photography is a combination of two different styles and personalities, a couple who feeds off each other’s creative and technical differences, and who offer two photographers at your wedding (who appear to be as in love with each other as they are with the inspiration they find in human nature).

Just talking to Olga and Vladimir makes it easy to picture them photographing together. You get a sense that they really do know how to have fun with it, an ability that likely stems from blending their unique creative juices and taking a different approach to each photo shoot. From engagement sessions to wedding days, on-site 'party booths' to post wedding fun shots – all at price points that would fit most brides' budgets – we think that Sweet Pair Photography is bound to become a favourite for romantic, modern, unobtrusive photography.

Personally speaking…

Olga originally started out in graphic design, graduating from Conestoga College. She believes it’s these skills and her seven years in the advertising and design industry that give her an edge in terms of having an eye for photography, not to mention it coming in handy during photo editing. Olga first worked on photo shoots for ad campaigns before moving solely into wedding photography, which she's been doing for the past three years. Adding to the reasons we love her, Olga started her wedding photography career as an assistant photographer for one of our all-time favourite, award-winning photographers, Ralph Heinze. Aside from the experience she gained from being a second shooter with Ralph, Olga says she was given the freedom to coordinate with the couple. “I was able to contribute my ideas to the plans of the day."

Vladimir has a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a background that has come to be a great asset in the photography business. With engineering under his belt, he is able to understand and perfect the equipment and more technical aspects of photography (which, in the digital age, there is a lot of). Just knowing they have the tech end of things covered; Olga and Vladimir feel more comfortable to be creative while they photograph. "…the technical side of photography came as second nature to me and I have become very knowledgeable of the various techniques and approaches for creating that perfect image," Vladimir told The Ring.

Olga is the one who introduced Vladimir to professional photography. As their shared passion for photography grew, it only seemed natural for them to pursue it professionally, together.

While Sweet Pair Photography just officially became a registered business, Olga and Vladimir say they’ve shot over twenty-five weddings while working with other photographers. And with killer photography and affordable prices, booking up for 2010 is a possibility.

Listening, planning ahead, and having fun

Olga and Vladimir say that their drive and passion for capturing the love and romance that each couple shares are what will set them apart. "Brides see that we take it seriously… We know that there is no replay button…” They photograph with the goal that their couples will have something they will always want to come back to and revisit."

One September 2009 bride liked the fact that Olga and Vladimir were down to earth and interested in what she had to say. After a while, they all felt like old friends. “Their photography has soul behind it, and you can tell that they have actually thought about what photographs to capture instead of relying on lucky shots.”

Dali was married in June 2009. She hired Sweet Pair to photograph her engagement and wedding. Part of the reason she hired them was because she could tell that Olga and Vladimir truly cared about her wedding. “I liked that when we met them they were prepared… we didn't feel like we were wasting time, and yet it felt so natural.”

People, places and things

While Sweet Pair has had experience photographing other aspects of life, they say that people are what they like best. “Faces tell stories and they tell a different story every time,” say Olga and Vladimir. “Human nature inspires us. We love to observe people and love to draw inspiration out of every day things.” This inspiration and their willingness to try different things is what keep Sweet Pair fresh and having fun with what they do.

What initially attracted Deanne and Matt Hamilton to Sweet Pair was their portfolio. Olga and Vladimir photographed their engagement and July 2009 wedding photos and they felt that each shot was creative and different. “With Sweet Pair, no two shots were alike and you could tell they liked to experiment and take risks,” says the couple. "They will take your dreams and turn them into reality." They add that while they had a plan for the day, Sweet Pair was constantly coming up with new ideas on the spot.

Recent bride, Olga Vyrlanovitch, says she had a pleasant and enjoyable experience working with Olga and Vladimir. “They have so much energy and ideas, it's easy to just go with the flow and let things happen… they definitely have a special eye for how to get an amazing picture that says a thousand words.”

A sweet pair…

Just like every bride having her own style, Sweet Pair believes that every artist does, too, which includes Olga and Vladimir individually, and together. “We have two different styles but at the same time they complement each other very well," they told us. "We have a great balance of creativity and technical skills that work hand in hand. We feed off of each other.”

Deanne and Matt found Olga and Vladimir to be friendly and could tell that because they're a couple themselves, they work off of each other and complement each other's styles.

Olga and Vladimir describe their combined style as romantic, with a touch of modern. "Our style is unobtrusive," they add. “We are merely observers, there only to capture your moments."

And they did just that for Dali who says that she loved both Olga and Vladimir's creativity and personalities. “They somehow capture the best version of your self. You will look natural and like a model at the same time.” She adds that the entire photo shoot with Sweet Pair was fun. “I didn't feel forced to perform or be a model but I ended up with pictures that I'm very happy with.”

August 2009 bride, Jelena Vukovic, said she could tell that Olga and Vladimir were a great team. “They were fun and easy to work with… They understood what we wanted… They caught every moment and detail from our wedding…"

With affordable packages that would fit most brides' budget, Sweet Pair says that their target bride is a happy bride. "No matter what the budget or location, a happy couple will always yield wonderful photographs." And since their approach is easy going and flexible according to the couple's needs, we would be surprised if a bride wasn't happy with Sweet Pair. "We are there to cater to the bride," say Olga and Vladimir.

With packages starting as low as $1950, Sweet Pair says their goal is "to provide a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable service for a reasonable price."

"I thought that compared to other photographers, for what they do and the pictures I ended up with, Sweet Pair is more than worth it," says Dali of Sweet Pair's prices.

All packages come with two photographers, a complimentary three hour engagement photo session, unlimited photo locations, an online web gallery and professional editing/retouching. Individual packages vary in price, hours of coverage, and extras that are included.

"From Sweet Pair you get much more for what you pay," says Jelena, adding that Sweet Pair's prices were right in her budget. "When you look at their photos, it's like looking in a magazine."

What's hot in Sweet Pair weddings…

A new service that Sweet Pair will be offering is the Party Booth – a mobile photo booth/studio at your reception with a backdrop and lights where guests can pose for fun shots. "Our goal is that the party booth will be fun for us and really fun for the guests," say Olga and Vladimir. "It will cause a buzz and excitement at the wedding."

The party booth was a huge hit at Deanne and Matt's wedding reception. "We ended up with some great, candid shots," they told us.”

Sweet Pair also thinks that bridal sessions are in right now. It's a bride-only shoot (done after the wedding, usually) that lasts a few hours. "Options are limitless," says Sweet Pair. "We can have a nice and simple shoot or a more fashion-style shoot - it is really up to the bride."

Day after (bride & groom) sessions is also something that Sweet Pair is seeing more of with couples. It gives couples more time to spend with their guests on the special day, knowing that the next day they will have a chance to get all of the shots they want without having any interruptions.

Walking you through a Sweet Pair affair…

Email and phone both work for getting in touch with Sweet Pair to set up a time to get together, either over coffee or at the bride and groom’s house. Since both Olga and Vladimir would be photographing your wedding, they feel it's important that both of them meet you, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other. "Naturally, we want the couple to feel comfortable and have fun with us.” They believe that being able to have fun with photography on the day of the wedding is what it's all about.

"They were eager to get to know us as a couple," say Deanne and Matt of their experience with Sweet Pair. "They really want to understand what you like and what you are expecting from your wedding day."

Sweet Pair also uses this opportunity to get a feel for the type of wedding the couple is hoping for. "We understand that we are all unique individuals and we are here to listen to your ideas…."

When recent bride, Olga, first met with Sweet Pair, she says she wasn't sure what style of photos she wanted; but Olga and Vladimir made sure they got to know her and her fiancé better, and gave them ideas that the couple says they would have never thought of. She adds that Sweet Pair was also very open to other ideas and made sure everyone was aiming for the same thing.

Closer to your wedding, a follow up meeting is scheduled to work out the details of the day, with the ultimate plan being to have everything covered and all of the details worked out ahead of the wedding day. By being prepared, Olga and Vladimir say everyone can relax and feel confident that the memories of the day will be taken care of.

"Working as a team allows us to capture the full story, from the family portraits and intimate moments, to the shots when no one is watching," say Olga and Vladimir. On occasion (and depending on the size of the wedding), they will bring an assistant to help out as well.

Deanne and Matt felt that their photo sessions with Sweet Pair were comfortable and non-invasive, adding that "There was a great balance of good direction versus staged shots."

Once the day has come and gone, Sweet Pair says they post an online web gallery (within a week) for you to view some of the amazing memories that happened right in front of their cameras.
