Fresh ideas
Stan has studied with some of the best known photographers in both Canada and the U.S. This commitment to keeping his talents and skills current has put him in demand across the province. While busy in his portrait, personal and corporate worlds, shooting for such high profile clients as Google and Excelorator, Stan shoots some thirty weddings a year - both local and abroad. With tons of experience from commercial to fashion, we're sure that Stan's repertoire makes him a perfect fit for many different styles since he is so well versed with many different clients.
Stan says he finds passions and inspiration in capturing the spirit of each occasion. He loves photographing all people of all ages from babies to grandparents.
From contemporary through to simple and elegant, your day of memories are undoubtedly in the hands of a professional. "Wedding photos should be a fun experience, and a memorable event," Stan told us. In fact, he believes that everyone should have at least one great portrait taken for every decade in his or her life. When asked if he had a favourite photo, his first response was, "... My favourite photo is always the next one I am about to shoot."
Creative places
Stan considers light to be the most important element in photography, "How light falls on someone's face is the difference between an ordinary photo and a stunning photo." Stan uses both film and digital formats. Although he has no personal preference between the two, his skill as a photographer eliminates the need for extensive computer enhancements... "There's a difference in making pictures versus taking pictures."
You'll find that Stan will ask as many questions about you, as you will have about him. "I want to find out as much as possible about my clients in order to ensure exactly what they want." Within minutes you'll feel completely comfortable with him and his surroundings.
Stan is always willing to scout out locations with couples before the wedding day, to ensure everyone is happy with the plans. He has a number of favourite spots he likes shooting at - from farms to fields, train stations to gas stations, warehouses to a waterfront property. Stan is open for the challenge and loves the variety.
Studio
Situated in a 100 year old stone warehouse in Cambridge (Galt), when you meet with Stan, you'll enjoy the funky studio surroundings, walls of photos, comfy couches and cool tunes. This i where he photographs brides, products and creative portraits. It's also where he shot the "Favourite Things" double page spread for The Wedding Ring Magazine's Spring/Summer 2011 issue (see spread in images strip, right).
Stan Switalski is engaging, likeable and a truly gifted artist. He says he's enjoying his work now more than ever. When you meet him, you'll want to stay awhile... we did.
Pricing and more
With all of Stan's experience and distinctive style, you'll be surprised by his affordable prices. He offers several packages and prices varying depending on the length of the event. Wedding packages start at $2495. Stan will help you build a package to suit your coverage needs, but all packages include prints and albums, as well as a CD of your wedding proofs and eight to ten hours of wedding day coverage.
Stan is also available for travel out of the province or country, and loves to do destination weddings. He tends to do three to six each wedding season, depending on the year and his local wedding calendar. "All destination packages are customized depending on what you need," explains Stan. The team at The Ring has featured his weddings and images in past issues of The Wedding Ring Magazine's Destination Weddings features. With such vivid memories and colour, we couldn't resist putting them in print.
