Surrounded by rolling hills, ponds and trees, Rebel Creek Golf Club gives the secluded feeling of a destination wedding location, just a few minutes from town.
Rebel Creek is where a bride and groom come if they're dreaming of wedding details such as waterside photos, a cocktail hour held on a gorgeous field stone and wrought-iron patio, or a reception in an incredible banquet facility with vaulted ceilings and a view to fall in love with.
Having made weddings and special events their specialty by offering the calibre of facilities, menus and service that so many brides are looking for, it was obvious for staff at The Ring that it was time to find out more about Rebel Creek Golf Club. Let us explain...
A Rebel Creek reputation
Since opening their doors in 2003, Rebel Creek Golf Club has become well known to many golfers for their eighteen hole championship golf course. Over this same period of time, they've become well-loved by brides for their focus on hosting and catering to weddings year round. It's these things, mixed with a seemingly spotless reputation that got our attention.
Personally speaking...
From our first tour of their 18,000 square foot facilities and countless acres of property, Rebel Creek was impressive. Erin Thomson, the Event Manager, helps couples plan and execute complete wedding days so that each element can be as impressive as the view. With over eight years of experience in the business, Erin told us, "My favourite part of being involved in a couple's wedding planning process is getting to meet so many different people, and helping to evolve their wedding plans into reality." Erin is on-site for each wedding for the full day, up until dinner service is completed.
Amber and Tim Philpott described the staff at Rebel Creek as "very accommodating and flexible." They held their ceremony and reception at Rebel Creek and say they had an excellent experience meeting and working with Erin. "[She was] very professional and organized and extremely courteous. Erin and the team made us feel very comfortable and relaxed."
A wedding at Rebel Creek
Rebel Creek is located in Petersburg Ontario, just ten minutes from downtown Kitchener-Waterloo. Their location makes them accessible without losing the feeling of destination wedding-style seclusion and nature that makes Rebel Creek unique.
That said, it seems to be the big picture that makes Rebel Creek perfect for so many brides. They have the service, flexibility, scenery, on-site photo options, ceremony and reception spaces, elegance and style that make it so easy to envision a wedding taking place here.
The ability to host the ceremony they wanted, with a perfect spot for pictures, and the reception of their dreams, and an all-in-one location was definitely something that initially attracted Marjorie and Jon to Rebel Creek. They told us, "At Rebel Creek we were able to have our ceremony on a very nice stone patio backing onto the beautifully manicured golf course and forest behind, and Rebel Creek also had a very nice tent in case of bad weather, we didn’t need to worry about anything for the ceremony." Post ceremony, the couple rode golf carts to hole three where there was a perfect backdrop for their photo shoot. "Rebel Creek even brought out drinks and appetizers for the wedding party during the photo shoot, it was fantastic!" says Marjorie. The last stop was the tastefully decorated hall, which Marjorie says had "a nice dance floor, and a bar area for our guests to mingle as well as have access to the patio all night. It was perfect."
For CEREMONIES at Rebel Creek you can have your wedding on the patio overlooking the golf course or in the clubhouse during the winter. In case of poor weather, your patio ceremony can be moved indoors by setting up your banquet room as a ceremony space when needed, and then to a reception space afterwards. This is done for an extra charge.
Amber and Tim loved that they could hold their ceremony on-site, which they did on the beautiful stone patio. They add that they loved the whole ambiance of Rebel Creek. "The service and food is fantastic, and it's a beautiful location with amazing scenery. You definitely get much more than you pay for."
For RECEPTIONS, the banquet facility and Players Lounge can host LARGE WEDDINGS of up to 200 guests for a cocktail reception or 160 for a seated dinner. Erin says that even at full capacity, the event still feels comfortable and intimate. The banquet facility carries neutral tones of taupe, cream and green, with elements of wood throughout. With a vaulted ceiling and an entire wall of windows, skylights, modern chandeliers, subtle gallery-style lighting and a breathtaking view, the banquet facilities are ready for a wedding.
"The banquet hall was big and bright with lots of windows," describes Marjorie. "The chandeliers were elegant but not over the top… we liked it."
For SMALLER, MORE INTIMATE WEDDINGS, couples can opt for The Bistro (a portion of the banquet facility sectioned off by a partition door) and the Players Lounge. In this area, you can seat eighty guests for dinner or up to 120 for a cocktail reception. Erin says that the space never feels empty, even with these slightly smaller guest lists.
Décor and details
Rebel Creek's banquet facilities really don't need much in the way of decorating. Erin says that's one of the things couples seem to love most about the location. Amber and Tim described their reception location at Rebel Creek as "clean, beautifully decorated, modern, warm and classic."
Tables can be set-up with white table linens and napkins in your choice of colours, but when it comes to overall décor and style, your options are wide open. Erin encourages you to take full advantage of Rebel Creek's facilities, saying that you're more than welcome to meet your other wedding professionals at the course to make discussing ideas with your decorator, florist, or photographer much easier.
Because the grounds are obviously so photogenic, most couples have their pictures taken on-site. Erin recommends taking them in and around the clubhouse, by the nineteenth hole pond, or on the course itself at the third tee. This is a favourite spot for many Rebel Creek brides. It is raised and offers a stunning view of the golf course as a backdrop for photos. The foundation has been restored and is a beautiful field stone wall that has been enhanced with wildflowers.
Menu options are according to taste
Erin says aside from the look of Rebel Creek, it's their extensive line of menu ideas that truly makes this location unique.
"Rebel Creek had a great selection of food at a reasonable cost," Amber and Tim told The Ring. "We very much enjoyed our experience… the food and service was unmatched." They add that they would definitely recommend Rebel Creek to anyone who is looking for "a beautiful location and great service for their guests at a reasonable price." "Compliments are still coming in from our family and friends on how great of a day it was at Rebel Creek!"
Every couple will be able to find something they love here, and they'll even be able to customize a menu just for themselves. Erin says their on-site chef is happy to create any one of a variety of ethnic meals and encourages all inquiries and special requests. From there on in, they'll price out the menu. You'll meet with Erin two months before your event to wrap up the menu selection.
The menu options at Rebel Creek were something that Marjorie loved best about them. "There was a lot to choose from and it all looked good, the menu was fantastic!" she says. "We came in advance and sampled our meal, and Rebel Creek was always very flexible so we could put together the perfect menu for our wedding night."
