We are always on the look-out for totally unique, creative, stand-out wedding ideas that we know our brides will love. So, when we met Celene Osiecka and Matt Dobson, owners of Moonseed Films, we knew we had to share this fabulous find with brides in The Ring.
Moonseed takes your wedding to a new level, creating an amazing pre-wedding video filmed before the wedding to show on your big day. Imagine your guests’ reaction when they see you and your sweetheart as the stars in your own music video. Or, how much fun would it be to remake a scene from one of your favourite films?!
We can’t get enough of Moonseed Films and we think couples are going to go wild for this idea too. Here’s more on Moonseed......
Personally Speaking…..
Celene and Matt wanted to do something special for their August 2011 wedding. They both had a film background and wanted their wedding to reflect their passion for the art form. The bride and groom’s entrance into the reception is a special event and simply having a sentimental song playing during their arrival wouldn’t suit them. A film capturing their personalities and giving them a show-stopping entrance would be more fitting for the two film professionals.
Matt and Celene both love the science fiction thriller Inception and decided to put their skills to work to craft an Inception themed film. It was a huge hit with all the guests, (check out their guests’ reactions here, shot by Fergus Lowrey of Good Glass Media: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsrxlUC-IY4) including their spectacular wedding photographers, Olga and Vladimir from Sweet Pair Photography. Realizing that Matt and Celene had enormous talent and creativity, they suggested the newlyweds offer this service to other couples. Matt and Celene loved the idea and soon, Moonseed Films was launched. Their first couple? None other than Olga and Vladimir. You could say their summer feat represented the “inception” of many new beginnings.
A service unlike any other
The service offered by Moonseed is unlike any other wedding video service. They aren’t videographers and don’t film the actual wedding. What they offer is an opportunity for couples to create a fabulous pre-wedding video telling a unique story, typically running about five minutes in length. You could create a comedy re-enacting the day you met, remake a scene from your favourite movie with you and your fiancé as the stars, or perhaps even a music video (how cool is that?).
As award winning directors and producers, Matt and Celene are seasoned storytellers who enjoy creating short films with real people. They know from their own wedding experience that creating new wedding traditions makes the day more memorable and inspiring.
For Matt and Celene, much of the thrill comes from stirring emotion in your guests and seeing their reactions. They also know that wedding planning can be stressful and couples can lose sight of the fun of it all. Matt and Celene find that filming your pre-wedding video offers couples the chance for a little “adventure and escape” from the daily wedding planning. “It’s fun and often your stomach will hurt the evening after filming from laughing so hard from all the outtakes!” The video also makes a great gift for the bride and groom who has everything! A very outside of the box gift!
Walking you through it
Celene and Matt work with you to find a theme that suits your personalities and tastes. They begin by scheduling a pre-production meeting, allowing you, Matt and Celene to see if you are in synch. From there, you’ll start to develop a theme and story and the script writing begins. Once the script is finalized by you, Matt and Celene, the pre-production stage commences including (but not limited to): collecting props, costumes, arranging for extras, scheduling shoot dates and locations. There is lots of back and forth during this time so it’s not uncommon to have daily phone calls and/or emails.
Once all of the details have been taken care of, Matt and Celene will send you a production schedule explaining who and what has to be where and when. Matt and Celene’s ten plus years of combined experience in directing and producing films enables them to seamlessly guide clients through the many facets of starring in a film. You will definitely feel like you’re in good hands throughout the entire experience!
After the film has been shot, it usually takes about two months to edit the video, making sure they meet the deadline you established in the pre-production meeting. Once the editing is complete, you’ll receive two copies of the film on DVD (although more are available by request) as well as written instructions of what needs to be carried out during the wedding day viewing (i.e., what equipment needs to be rented, instructions for the emcee or wedding party that may need to be carried out to ensure the film goes off as planned).
Matt and Celene also encourage you to make sure you tell your videographer or photographer to film and photograph guests as they watch the film. You definitely won’t want to miss your guests’ reactions and if you aren’t in the room at the time, you’ll want to document your guests as they watch your video. (Make sure you send Matt and Celene the reaction footage to be included in an additional video that can be posted for everyone to enjoy!)
