Images Photography combines a dedicated approach with experience & passion to capture real memories
Heidi at Images Photography has revised and improved her website, and it's looking good! Check it out: www.imagesphotography.ca

When we first met Heidi Faul, Owner of Images Photography, we knew we had to share this incredibly talented photographer with brides in The Ring. Throughout the years, Heidi has surpassed our expectations, as she continues to blow us away with her expertly crafted, natural shots and a personality that can make even the most wedding-crazed bride feel comfortable, relaxed and confident on her wedding day. Just take a look at the images to the right for some examples of Heidi's exceptional abilities (we are in LOVE with the winter engagement session!).

With the experience to handle any situation with a smile (Heidi really has seen it all!), a talent for photography that runs in the family and a price list to suit any budget, it's no surprise that brides from New Hamburg, K-W and beyond are just as in love with Images Photography as we are.

Let us tell you more...

Personally Speaking

To say that photography runs in Heidi’s blood might be an understatement. Growing up, she often tagged along with her photographer father, John Faul Jr., as he shot weddings. “I played with a camera as a young child. My passion is natural light and the beautiful setting of the wild.” Soon, that passion turned into an apprenticeship and Heidi was well on her way to becoming a respected photographer in her own right.

Photography goes even further back in the Faul family. Heidi explains, "I am a third generation photographer. Born and bred. It’s destiny...or even legacy.  I knew going to weddings as a little girl I wanted to continue in his footsteps. The magic and excitement of a wedding is amazing.”

Today, Heidi shoots an average of twelve to fifteen weddings per year and has about 300 weddings under her belt to date.  After so many weddings, Heidi has truly seen everything...and it's all part of the excitement she feels as she shoots, “Every event is different. When you think you have seen it all, you really haven't. There is always something new and exciting.  Like lime green shoes…or a puppy walking up the aisle with the rings…or brides on horses.  I never get tired seeing these dreams put into play…real life fairy tales. “

2013 will mark Heidi’s sixteenth year as a professional photographer. So what keeps her inspired? “I love the unscripted moments when the couple is looking at each other and you can see their passion and love for each other in their eyes. I love hearing the speeches, finding out how they meet and why they are in love."

A True Professional

As a professional photographer, Heidi has the experience and expertise to deal with any situation imaginable. And while her experience makes her a true pro, Heidi is still young at heart, something that helps her keep up with new styles and lets her maintain a great relationship with her brides. “I'm fun, energetic and can relate well…sometimes you have to read people, as they won't tell you what they are thinking. I'm a senior photographer with a youthful approach.”

Jerrika Schneider and Travis Gordner booked Heidi for their May 2012 engagement session and look forward to having Heidi shoot their June 2013 wedding day. They told The Ring, “Heidi possesses a very outgoing and cheerful personality. She made our overall experience enjoyable and memorable.”

Leslie Elkeer, Wedding Coordinator at The Waterlot, has worked with Heidi during several weddings and says that she would absolutely recommend Heidi to any couple getting married, “Heidi is very easy to work with as a co-vender on weddings. She keeps the pace going to accommodate both the wedding party and their requested shots and respects our timing as the caterers. She anticipates the needs and requests of the bride and groom and their families. She does a great job.”

Although Heidi has the expertise of a seasoned photographer, she says that it’s still important to continually educate herself with courses and workshops. She also takes part in hands-on workshops with other photographers, “I take two to three courses every year to keep up with new techniques and styles.” For example, Heidi has taken several courses at Conestoga College, Niagara School of Imaging and Fanshawe College, to name a few.

This is all part of what helps Heidi stay on top of the latest ideas, techniques and trends when it comes to photography. For example, Heidi has noticed that “fusion” has become increasingly popular lately. Heidi explains, “[It’s] mixing still photography with video and music." In fact, Heidi loved the idea so much that she decided to start offering fusion to her brides…a favourite among her past (and present) couples!

Brides Love…

Jane and Bruce booked Heidi for their May 14th, 2011 wedding day as well as their engagement session, "She is an excellent photographer.  We had so many shots to pick from, they all were simply amazing. Our favourite memory is when the car wouldn’t start. Heidi was getting creative with her shots; she captured great pictures on our day. I was very happy to have chosen Heidi do our wedding pictures, the memories she created was amazing!"

One of Heidi's past brides' favourite things is how easily she can adapt to any situation...all with a smile on her face. “Weddings can be stressful and I am calm, cool and collected.”

For example, Heidi's attitude and abilities played a crucial role on Adam and Dinah Rose's June 2010 wedding day. They told The Ring that she helped make the best of their day - regardless of the weather. The couple planned to get married and have pictures outside, but the weather wasn't exactly ideal. "Heidi was very efficient at getting through as many family pictures after the ceremony as we possibly could as we were watching the clouds roll in," explains the couple. "After the rain had stopped, we got right back out there and finished. She worked through everything very quickly to make sure that we were able to include everything that we wanted to in our pictures. She came prepared and had small mats for people to sit on so that they would not get wet."

"Heidi can do anything you want. Even if you suggest a position, she's up for it," said Lorraine Penney, after describing her own engagement shoot that entailed her now-husband, Allan, climbing up a tree for one of the shots. "Heidi just said 'sure'. She's totally flexible."

A Fun, Relaxed and Personable Approach

One of the things that draws brides to Images Photography is Heidi’s personal style and approach to weddings: she's personable, relaxed, easy-going...and anything but cookie-cutter. As an avid natural lover, Heidi specializes in outdoors photography and loves to shoot country settings using natural light.

Although she has worked with countless personalities in the past fifteen years, Heidi has seen a common theme between many of the couples she shoots; "[They] are career-orientated couples with a strong balance of life-work-play. They want good value for their money but are down to earth and fun at heart. They want their pictures to reflect all sides of them.”

Heidi also loves to work with brides that are a bit daring and want to push the envelope when it comes to their wedding photos, “[They are] definitely fun, energetic and enjoy the outdoors and natural light.”

Packages & Pricing

While Heidi has options to suit any bride and any budget, she says that her most popular package is the Designer Collection as it includes five hours of photographic coverage - a good chunk of the wedding day. This package also comes with a beautiful finished bridal album and high resolution images - a fantastic base with great value!

If you're looking for coverage by the hour, Heidi has several options to suit any brides preference. For example, Bronze Coverage includes three hours of photography for $1450 (including coverage of your ceremony and formal session). On the other end of the spectrum there's Platinum Coverage, which includes nine hours of coverage (including coverage of the bride getting ready, ceremony and formal session plus more hours at the reception). If you'd like additional coverage, you're looking at $275 per hour.

Heidi also offers several fun extras like the parents story book digital album, a magazine style digital album and a stunning designer album, personalized with your name and wedding date.

Shellie and Mike Hill loved browsing through Heidi’s albums and told us that the first time they met her they knew she would be the perfect photographer for their October wedding. "While we were viewing her preview albums, we noticed that her photos were natural looking, not 'posed'." Shellie adds that while she and Mike felt that their wedding day was a bit hectic, Heidi helped the situation. "She was casual, laid back and always gave words of assurance that everything would be fine." She reminded them of the importance of having fun on their wedding day.

Adam and Dinah loved that Heidi had many packages available and guided them to one that included everything they wanted while staying in their budget. "She was flexible," they add. "We found some other photographers' packages and hours were more set in stone than Images' were." In fact, Adam and Dinah's whole experience with Images Photography was great. "When we first met with Heidi, she seemed to be very open to listen to what we wanted for our wedding and then she made suggestions from there," they told us. "We would definitely recommend Images Photography to another couple getting married.”

Walking you through it…

If you’re interested in meeting with Heidi, you’ll usually meet at her studio in New Hamburg.  Located in a historical home filled with tons of charm, a cozy fireplace, an exposed brick wall, dark hardwood floor - it's the ideal setting to look through Heidi's past images, get to know her and pick the perfect wedding package for you.

On your wedding day, Heidi is there along with an assistant (pending availability).

Heidi describes herself as not only a photographer, but a friend on your wedding day. “I help from the first time I meet them to set up their schedule and review how they want the day to unfold. I help in mind every aspect so that I can to help the day run smoothly. I have a ‘just in case’ bag with handy items for ‘just in case’ events.  I also bring umbrellas, sunglasses…for some fun props.”

Jerrika and Travis say that it was Heidi’s willingness to go above and beyond that made her so special, “Between taking our engagement photos and having them developed, we moved to Alberta and she was very understanding and flexible. For example, we flew home and she was able to make time to meet with us on weekend when she had another photo shoot booked, [in order] for us to receive our photos. Heidi was very helpful with every step of the process.”
