Les Fleurs specializes in offering flower designs that are hip, unique and in your price range

Operating out of the new Vincenzo's location in the Bauer Lofts in Uptown Waterloo, Les Fleurs Floral Boutique has easily become a favourite floral design shop for local brides, as well as for local community and charity events in a short period of time. Les Fleurs offers contemporary flowers that Owner and Designer, Lisa Littlefield, describes as "Fresh, unique, hip and funky..."

Lisa has worked on-set for segments on Rogers Television and has set her sights on Kitchener and area wedding designs for five years now, including weddings from London to Toronto. When staff at The Ring interviewed Les Fleurs to find out more, Lisa told us that brides "love calla lilies and roses, but we know that there is a much wider spectrum of flowers that are also very beautiful when it comes to weddings." Let us explain...

Personally speaking...

Lisa Littlefield has over fifteen years of experience in landscaping and design, and has completed Floral Design courses at Conestoga College. She also holds a Masters in Political Science, Third World Development and International Relations. Lisa spent a year working with the National Capital Commission (NCC) in Ottawa - a commission responsible for designing, planting and maintaining the landscapes, gardens, flower beds and floral displays in our nation's capital. It was here that she fell in love with flowers, pointing her in the direction of what has certainly become a lifelong career in floral design.

Each arrangement is designed and created by Lisa, personally. Les Fleurs has created unique and fun floral arrangements for weddings from London to Toronto, including most of the local halls from Langdon Hall to La Hacienda Sarria and St. George Banquet Hall. "We’ve been to all the places that brides want to be," says Lisa.

In addition to the dozens of weddings Les Fleurs designs for each year, they have many corporate accounts. "We take care of all the flowers for Charcoal, Wildcraft and 20 King restaurants as well as for Rogers and other local businesses."

This includes creating the floral centrepieces for a cancer fundraiser at Wildcraft (which was supported and hosted by Lance Armstrong and Kate Hudson!).

Les Fleurs also does a great deal of commercial work, set design and floral arrangements for Broil King BBQ commercials. They made floral arrangements (both centrepieces and larger arrangements) for the Andy Warhol Exhibit grand opening and gala in February 2009 at the Waterloo Region Children's Museum.

Plus, Lisa is a guest speaker on Rogers Daytime Television on the first Tuesday of every month (from 11 am to 12 pm) to discuss hot, new floral trends. They’re also the official florist of the annual Blues Fest in downtown Kitchener.

In February 2010, Les Fleurs moved to their new location in Uptown Waterloo. They're now located in the south corner of Vincenzo's inside the Bauer Lofts. The store carries completely fresh flowers so customers who stop by can see them, smell them, and interact with them. "Nothing is hidden in a cooler," Lisa told us. Plus, the store receives daily delivers so you can rest assured that the flowers are always fresh. After all, her motto is “service, service, service”.

Experience counts...

Lisa understands what it takes to create a stress-free wedding. "I do everything possible to ensure that Les Fleurs flowers are not just beautiful, but that a bride never has a moment of worry or stress when she trusts us to take care of her flowers for her." Lisa understands wedding stress - the night before her own wedding, her flowers were stolen from the cooler at the ceremony site/reception hall (there was a prom the night before and some of the kids somehow got into the cooler and helped themselves to her wedding flowers.) Fortunately, the hall was able to find and replace her flowers for her. They weren't exactly what she had ordered from her florist, but they made do.

Fab flowers are everything at Les Fleurs

Lisa should be a perfect match for local brides because for her it's really just all about designing fabulous flowers - the type of arrangements that are contemporary, funky and overall beautiful. That's why she comes in to work every day, and why she loves her career.

Lisa believes that flowers should not just reflect the colours and theme of a wedding, but the personalities of the bride a groom as well. "Both are equally important to the wedding day's big picture," she explains.

"To many brides, wedding flowers mean roses or calla lilies... I can help them see other possibilities." Lisa says that she often finds herself showing brides a variety of different flowers that can complement the roses or calla lilies that they love in the magazines, bringing it all together in a bouquet that is both gorgeous and unique.

Lisa says that one of her favourite parts of the job is being able to show couples ideas they've never seen or thought of before. She integrates accessories and non-floral options as well. "Fruits such as Macintosh apples in the fall, cranberries, lemons and limes, or even cabbage leaves inside the vases can give a bouquet an updated and fun look... Elements like walnuts and chestnuts, acorns, pine cones and leaves can help tie your wedding flowers into your theme." Lisa seems happiest when she's describing a multitude of colour, flower and texture combinations. It's easy to see how a bride and groom could be inspired by flowers here. And she must be doing something right as she told us that she has seen a lot of very happy customers leave her shop who refer her to others and return for other floral needs even after their wedding is over.

Lisa works mostly with fresh flowers that are brought in from her selected suppliers several times a week, but she is also happy to work with dried flowers if you'd like her to. "It's about what the bride and groom want on their wedding day."

Les Fleurs also offers a variety of giftware such as candles, spa products, glassware, baskets for arrangements, pillows from a Toronto artisan (Heather Shaw), picture frames, seeds, and more. If you spend enough time there, you could probably design your favours, décor and/or wedding party gifts all in one location.

Your wedding with Les Fleurs

Les Fleurs takes on no more than two weddings per weekend, depending on their sizes and floral details.

They provide bride and bridal party bouquets, throw-away bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, table centrepieces (for purchase or to rent) and just about anything else you can think of that might involve fresh floral décor for a wedding day.

Your wedding flowers begin at a personal consultation with Lisa in her downtown store, where you'll meet, get to know each other and discuss ideas. From that point forward, most of the correspondence is by email and phone leading up to the week before the wedding. This is the week during which details are finalized and the flowers are either delivered and set up, or picked up by the bride and groom.

Pricing your Les Fleur floral designs

Giving couples another reason to love her, Lisa prides herself on being able to work with any budget, big or small. "The average wedding package that I design ranges from $500 to $1500," she told us, explaining that this package would usually include the brides' bouquet, a throw-away bouquet, several bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnières and corsages. "I like to keep my prices more than reasonable in order to make sure that everyone gets fabulous flowers for their wedding day. It's my way of sharing my passion for flowers."

You should plan to book Les Fleurs a minimum of three months in advance, although last minute bookings are welcome. Since Lisa regularly limits the number of bookings she'll take for each weekend, she says that the earlier you book, the better. A 50% deposit holds your wedding date on her calendar, with the balance due at the time of delivery or pick-up. Les Fleurs delivers within the K-W Region - delivery fees may apply to certain orders.

In other words...

"I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you so much for the bouquets and flower arrangements that you put together for our wedding day. They were absolutely perfect and I was blown away with how they turned out! Not being one who is 'informed' about such things, I truly left it up to you to come up with something that would be special - I loved that they weren't "traditional" fall flowers. You captured the style I was looking for! Thank you again for your attention to detail and for putting together something so beautiful." - Andrea & Bill

"Les Fleurs Floral Boutique did a wonderful job on the flowers for our wedding. Lisa did a great job of making suggestions and helping us to choose flowers that suited our personality and style of the wedding. My daughters' floral crown was so beautiful, she looked like a beautiful woodland fairy. Her crown is drying in her room so she can keep it as a memento of our special day. We gave the centrepieces away to our guests and they kept for weeks afterwards. We could not have asked for a more beautiful accent to our wedding." - Anita Usas-Neving

"Lisa, thank you so very much for the beautiful job you did with our flowers. The bouquet was SO nice and the table arrangements were outstanding! Thanks for making our day extra special." - Pam and Dave

"Andrew and I just wanted to thank you for the flowers, bouquets, etc. that you arranged for our wedding! Everything was so incredibly beautiful! I will recommend you (and already have, actually) to all of my friends and family. We were so happy with your work." - Jaime

"Lisa, the flowers were amazing, everyone wanted to know where we got them done. It was perfect, thank you for understanding my vision. Thanks for everything." Megan & Jason
