Niagara-based Lalysh Bridal Accessorises offers customized jewellery pieces, birdcage veils, and countless custom pieces for the Ontario bride

The first thing you notice when you meet Alysha Robins, owner of Lalysh Bridal Accessories, is that this girl has style (and some seriously fabulous shoes!). Alysha offers her own collection of handmade, custom wedding accessories for style-savvy brides in the Niagara area – and across Southwestern Ontario.

From jewellery bouquets and convertible headpieces that you can turn into the perfect everyday accessory after your wedding, to the "Something Blue" collection, visiting Lalysh online or in person can give you a new way to look at accessorizing. Her one-of-a-kind work is designed to add a totally unique touch for the bride, her bridesmaids and the mother's of the bride and groom. Let us explain....

Personally Speaking....

A knack for design runs in Alysha's family. “My Aunt Joss owned her own business for years designing bridal headpieces and veils, and she helped me out a lot as well with pointers and know-how. She taught me how to make veils, first with mine for my wedding in 2008 and then when I started my business.”

But it was Alysha's grandmother who really inspired her when it came to all things bridal, "In 2008 I decided to make strictly wedding jewellery.  I did so because I loved wedding stuff so much and because the bridal industry is in my blood.  My grandmother, Mme Lachance, owned a bridal shop in Welland."  So, Alysha started designing costume and semi-precious jewellery, selling it at craft shows, house parties and other events.

When friends saw her pieces and started coming to her for custom jewellery for their weddings, Alysha knew this was the perfect opportunity to turn her passion into a career. “I was asked to make a lot of friends, relatives, and friends of friends wedding and bridesmaid jewellery… I decided to make strictly wedding jewellery. I did so because I loved wedding stuff so much more and because the bridal industry is kind of in my blood... I am currently in my third year of doing weddings, and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”

A personal touch

Alysha says her goal is to help brides find the perfect accessories to complement their dream gown, whether it's a necklace, veil or a tiara, or a fabulous accessory to give her bridesmaid.

And we love that Lalysh not only has an amazing ready-to-wear line, but also offers custom pieces.

“Almost everything always winds up being custom. A girl may want a bit of this one, a bit of that one, add a bit of something they’ve seen in a magazine, some of the elements that are in the details of their dress, and a long detailed drop down their back because their dress plunges in the back and needs to be shown off, and presto! A completely new piece is created!”

Jessica Petrella, who was married in October 2009, remembers loving the design process. “I was able to match my colours and choose something that I know my girls would love. They all still wear their necklaces today.”

Married in June 2009, Alana Traficante agrees. “I loved that the pieces were custom designed and that she listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly… I really didn't want to wear a traditional veil, and had hoped to incorporate my late Nonna's hairpiece from her wedding in Italy in 1947. Alysha was thrilled at the opportunity to work with the vintage piece. She spent time with me reworking the design, cleaning each individual silk flower, and adding embellishments that made the piece more contemporary. Her passion was evident throughout the whole process, and the final product was really beautiful.”

The stylish bride

Working with a designer like Alysha means you can get exactly what you want with your wedding day accessories.

Lalysh offers a huge variety of accessories, right on trend. “My pieces are mostly classic and timeless, but I do like to keep on top of trends and have a variety of ‘it’ pieces available.”

For example, Alysha says the birdcage veil, is huge right now. “They are so classic." She offers a variety of different birdcage veil designs to choose from.

Brides looking for something extra special to add to their dress or searching for the perfect bridesmaids gifts, will want to check out the brooches at Lalysh. It's also a great option for the mothers of the bride and groom.

For a completely unique bouquet, we love Lalysh's bouquet jewellery. Whether it's a spray bouquet (a fabulous peal and crystal piece) or you want to add some sparkle to your flowers, it's a totally unique and one-of-a-kind bouquet.

Alysha likes to stay on top of current trends for brides. “Brides are loving chunky jewellery right now, not such traditional pieces, more of the everyday statement pieces that you can wear again. For bridesmaids, classics such as pearls, seem to be the biggest hit. Another major trend in bridesmaid jewellery is each girl wearing a different style of necklace using the same basic components. This way, each girl has a style that reflects them best, and that they will wear it time and again.”

She notes that headpieces are also popular right now because you can dress up the simplest of gowns with a fabulous piece. “Statement headpieces are all the rage right now. Feathers, flowers, lace, colours, fascinators, and netted blushers are the most popular to wear in your hair, as opposed to a traditional veil.”

And if you're worried about buying a headpiece that you'll never wear again, check out Lalysh’s cool convertible headpiece idea! [link]

“If a bride chooses a convertible headpiece to wear on their wedding day, they bring or send it back to me at their leisure. For a small pre-determined fee, I then restring their tiara/headpiece into a beautiful piece of keepsake jewellery.”

Little touches

Lalysh has several collections to choose from for specific locations and wedding styles. If you are getting married on the beach, you'll want to check out the Beach Bride collection. Or, if you're looking for your something blue, Lalysh has a Something Blue collection you have to see.

They also sell ring pillows, baskets, guest books, garters, and handkerchiefs – all with options for personalization.

Pricing your accessories

Accessories range from $7 - $200. Jessica found the price perfect for her bridal party at a great price. “Alysha worked with me so I didn't go too much over my budget... It was worth every penny. She had something for everyone which I liked so if you wanted to spend less, it was definitely an option.”

Alana agrees: “The prices were quite reasonable and came in well under what I had budgeted. Enough so that I was able to add a few extra accessories to add to my look.”

Walking us through it

Brides can call or email Alysha to set up an appointment or visit the store to get a feel for the accessories. Alysha will help you select pieces or draw up a design. There's no extra cost for custom designs (sweet!). The process usually takes around three to four weeks and brides can call at any point if they have changes or add ons.

When Alysha is finished creating your piece she will contact you to pick it up.

Alana Traficante was thrilled with her accessories from Lalysh, "Alysha was such a pleasure to work with, and her designs are quite beautiful.  I could tell she had a certain sense of nostalgia in the manner she worked so I trusted her creative intuition.  In the end, she helped me bring life to my the memory of my Nonna on my wedding day.  I can't thank her enough for that!"
