Makeup artist Angie Keller isn’t like most people. When she couldn’t find good mineral makeup at an affordable price, she refused to settle for second best. So, without even a second thought, she started her own product line. And we know brides will be thankful she did. Angie uses her line, Jacha Minerals, on all of her brides, leaving them radiant and confident on their wedding day, with makeup that feels light, natural and healthy.
From super natural to super glam, Angie is on a mission to help bride’s look and feel incredible on their wedding day. With products that will literally leave you glowing from within and a philosophy that every bride should get exactly what she wants on her wedding day, we can’t get enough of Angie and her line. Let us explain....
Personally Speaking...
It started with a diploma from one of the top makeup schools in the world, Blanche Macdonald Centre in Vancouver. With courses like Makeup Fundamentals, Cosmetic Retailing, Hair and Makeup for Bridal and Fashion, Makeup for Special Effects, Makeup for Stage, TV and Film. Angie graduated feeling excited and ready to take on the makeup industry.
Starting out as a freelance makeup artist, Angie went on a search for really good mineral makeup that she could use on all of her clients. Her search ended unsuccessfully- she found it impossible to find quality products in her price range. So, she contacted some manufactures to find out if she could order products directly though them. She found out she could....if she had a business. Determined to give clients quality products that they could afford, she jumped at the opportunity, and without looking back, created Jacha Minerals.
“I don’t want women to purchase my products and then throw them in a drawer never to be seen again. I want women to wear the product and feel confident in their application skills. I hate going to makeup counters at the mall, and being bombarded with women who tell me anything to get a sale. I thought, if I had my own makeup line, I could inform women about makeup myths, and help them save money by providing them with products they actually need!”
It’s been six years since Angie started out as a freelance makeup artist, but she officially launched Jacha Minerals in April 2010 and brought out her makeup line in September 2010. “I went the whole wedding season last year with unlabelled products in my kit, so it was a surprise to many when I launched my own makeup line and they found out that I had been using my own products without them knowing.”
Today, Angie helps brides look and feel fabulous on their wedding day, “I don’t cake on makeup so they look like someone else, I just make them look like a more glamorous version of themselves.”
It’s all about you!
Angie says her ability to really listen to what each bride wants is what makes her successful, “I may love dramatic smoky eyes, or a bright bold lipstick colour, but if that’s not what the bride is looking for, it doesn’t really matter what makeup styles I love or prefer.”
For Angie, helping you feel comfortable with your makeup is the key to a confident, beautiful bride, “We are called makeup artists because we are artists. The face is our canvas. So I give women exactly what they are looking for on their wedding day. I take the time to listen to them and understand them. I know what it feels like to pay for a service and leave unhappy, and so I try my best to make sure that everyone leaves my chair happy and feeling beautiful.”
Heather Baxter doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and really appreciated Angie’s products on her July 2009 wedding day, “It feels light on your face. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis, I have found that her products and her application leave a very natural look. I especially loved the photo finishing liquid foundation. It goes on so light...it’s as if you have no makeup on at all!”
And women with even the most sensitive skin can wear makeup on their wedding day without worrying about a bad skin reaction. Jacha Minerals has no potential skin irritants, the products are free of talc, mineral oil, fragrance and heavy fillers and are infused with light reflecting pigments and antioxidents. This means you’ll photograph beautifully, no matter what your age or what condition your skin is in.
Margie McLean is a photographer who has worked with Angie on photos shoots and personally uses her products, “Makeup isn’t my specialty, but I don't think it's very common for a makeup artist to have her own line of products. I love knowing that I'm getting top quality products from someone who is extremely familiar with them. She knows her stuff and the makeup is amazing quality, which is why I don’t hesitate to recommend her to clients. There's a really great variety of colours and she has something that will work with every skin tone and preference.”
Brides that love their wedding day makeup can purchase everything directly from Angie, which allows them to recreate the look on their own. With best selling products like Mineral Sheer Veil, and Jacha Minerals trendy animal print bronzers like Santafe and Congo, brides can take their favourite products home and recreate their wedding day look every day.
Spa owner Cheri Bell purchased her salon in June 2010 and immediately began looking for products that clients would love, “I was searching for some new and exciting updates for the business and was so thrilled when I met Angie. It’s fantastic working with her and her product line!”
A lot of the excitement comes when Angie sees her clients experimenting with their look, “I love doing makeup for brides that don’t normally wear it and seeing how happy they are when they look in the mirror. And I must say, I love getting the hesitant mother of the bride or even grandmother of the bride to put makeup on and see how youthful and beautiful our products can make them feel on the day of the wedding.”
From monochromatic shades to eyelash extensions
Angie enrols in a new course at the beginning of every season so that she is completely up to date on new and upcoming makeup trends. She also spends time researching different makeup looks online and in magazines so that she feels confident if a bride asks for a current trend on their wedding day.
She loves the must have look for brides this summer, “translucent, luminous skin, along with subtle elegant colours on the eyes and lips. For the more adventurous bride you can add some excitement to a natural look by using soft monochromatic shades, balanced by beautiful contrasting pops of colour.”
Another hot trend right now? Eyelash extensions, “I love when brides ask for a natural look but also want eyelash extension. It’s a great way to make your eyes pop and add instant drama.” Angie does semi-permanent extensions, a fabulous edition to your wedding day look.
Brides can also bring along magazine clippings or pictures of a look they might want so that Angie can get a good idea of what you’re looking for.

Walking you through it....
Interested brides can give Angie a call or send her an email to get in touch-whatever is most convenient. She’ll find out details like makeup location and how many people are in the wedding party. This will help her figure out pricing for your wedding. She also likes to chat with brides and find out what look they’re interested in and set up a time to meet face to face. You’ll meet Angie either at your home or at her home office where you’ll go over contract details and try out the makeup you want for your wedding day.
Angie recommends that you do some research and bring pictures of different makeup looks that you think you might like. This is also when you put down a twenty percent deposit or leave your credit card on file to secure your wedding date.
On the day of, Angie sets up her kit in a space with lots of natural light. If you don’t have an area with enough natural light, let Angie know and she can bring special lighting with her. She likes to spend a few minutes with each person she’s doing makeup for, just to figure out how they usually do their makeup, and what their comfort level is. Next, she’ll start the makeup applications, which take about twenty minutes per person.
Depending on the number of people in the wedding party, or how many bookings Angie has for the day, she might have an assistant with her to help her stay on your timeline.
Heather Baxter was thrilled when Angie helped her get glam for her July 2009 wedding, “I remember how happy she was the morning of my wedding. Bright and early she was there with a big smile on her face ready to do the entire wedding party! She made me feel so relaxed and I knew she would make us all look beautiful! Everyone in my wedding party raved about her and several of them have used her again and purchased her makeup line.”
