Well established Cutten Fields offers reputation, elegance and service for a spectacular wedding dayg

Cutten Fields (formally known as The Cutten Club)  is a private golf and tennis club that has been hosting weddings since 1931 and is proud to be celebrating their 80th anniversary this year. Choosing a club that is recognized as one of the finest in the country means choosing reputation, history and elegance. You can expect high ceilings, natural light, fireplaces, and traditional décor... all combined with the advantages of an indoor ballroom reception for 25 to 250 guests, an outdoor ceremony amidst stunning gardens, and views of both the course and the Guelph cityscape. But what's more, you can expect the service that only a club with this much history could offer you.

Personally speaking...

As much a part of Guelph's heritage as Guelph itself Cutten Fields has hosted fiftieth anniversaries for couples in the same rooms where they exchanged their vows so many years before. It's this long history of dealing with weddings and consistency in great service that makes the staff at Cutten Fields such experts.  This year, Cutten Fields is excited to be celebrating their 80th year in business.

The best part about this amazing venue is the personal attention you will receive from the staff. While we were there, each staff member that walked by greeted us personally with a 'hello' and a smile. Of course, the most important staff member to a bride and groom planning their wedding is the on-site planner. It's safe to say that she is just as personable and outgoing as the rest. Food and Beverage Manager, Vanessa Hovius, is devoted to giving each bride and groom exactly what they are looking for.

Your wedding day

Your wedding day plans begin when you meet with Vanessa. As you share your ideas and hopes with her, Vanessa takes you on a full tour of the in and outside of the club. You'll pass by countless club staff that never forget to greet you with a smile. You'll have a chance to look at the beautiful view from the Clubhouse of the Guelph cityscape and your views of the rolling greens of the course that your guests will be able to enjoy on your wedding day. The view at Cutten Fields is unbelievable... a definite must-see. Inside, the club has incredible décor with fireplaces and high ceilings... it's hard to know what the best feature of the ballroom is!

The finer points

Currently, Cutten Fields does about forty weddings each year, in addition to the anniversary parties they commonly orchestrate. If needed, they can accommodate up to three weddings each weekend because of the high organization and efficiency of their facilities and staff. Vanessa suggests that you book at least a year in advance, but also says it's always worth a call if you have less time. If they can accommodate you, they will.

Since weddings are their specialty, Cutten Fields has also recently started to focus on all aspects of the wedding – not just the day but also the events that take place before and after the day too. In a recent interview with Vanessa, she told us that they’re doing a lot more rehearsal dinners and day after brunches, both of which they also have special menus for. They even have a menu for shower brunches.

When you book an event that is two to three days at Cutten Fields, there is no hall rental fee for the additional days – just the reception.

Outlining your options

Cutten Fields offers not just a fabulous golf course that you can take advantage of for guests and the wedding party, but also space for your ceremony (indoor or outdoor possibilities), a lounge complete with fireplace, a gorgeous reception hall that can be broken into sections for different areas if you choose, and amazing catering to tempt all of your guests' palettes. Plus, they have recently renovated the space and while we still think you should go check it out for yourselves, we think it looks fabulous!

If you are having a member sponsored event, 100% of your room rental fee is waived! Additionally, Cutten Fields has a selection of preferred vendors that they can suggest to help make your planning easier if you're feeling overwhelmed by all the details to choose from. Vanessa, your wedding planner, will help you with each of the details, decisions and challenges of your big day.

Cutten Fields has an exclusive DJ on their preferred vendors list – Sounds Samsation, who is used for all of their events unless you hire a band. "He installed a great, permanent sound system for your enjoyment," Vanessa told us. The Club contacts Sound Samsation on your behalf and Sam Luchese; the owner; contacts you to organize all the musical details of your wedding.  All payments are made directly to Sound Samsation.

The numbers

Room rental prices at Cutten Fields are based on the number of guests you are expecting and therefore amount of room you'll need. It's best to contact Cutten Fields and they'll happily give you a quote. To give you an idea of room sizes, The Commonwealth Room, holds 80 to 120 people and the Trophy Room holds 200 to 250. And remember, the room rental also includes your DJ!

Ceremonies are indoor or out, with one of our favourite spots on the premises being the garden that is set aside primarily for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Even though you're on the course, Cutten Fields has designed the outdoor garden to give the feeling of seclusion, with bushes and trees surrounding you. A trellis completes the look and offers further privacy. All the while, you're close enough to every amenity needed to make your day run smoothly. For that extra touch, inquire about reserving Cutten Fields’ piano.

Just a few of the items included in the price of your wedding rental package here are...

• cocktail tables
• upgraded floor length table linens and napkins
• the in-house DJ – Sounds Samsation
• equipment required for a slideshow
• a black wrought iron easel
• most audio/video equipment (ie. a microphone, screen, podium ect.)
• mirrored tiles
• all china and silverware
• your service staff and the bartender
• wedding tasting
• exclusive use of the licensed patio

Off season affairs

Not even snow can stop Cutten Fields from offering their couples fabulous spaces and top notch service. In fact, Vanessa told us that recently they've been doing more winter and off-day weddings. "Not everyone wants to get married on a Friday or Saturday," she says.

It seems that not everyone wants to get married in the summer either, and Cutten Fields grounds still look amazing in the winter with fantastic views and great photo opportunities among the winter wonderland. "We will even shovel off the patio for your use and for photos," says Vanessa.

The Club offers a 10% discount, along with a ton of other bonuses, for couples who want to get married in January, February, March and any day of the week other than Friday or Saturday. Couples who get married on a Friday between May and October will receive a 10% discount or, a 15% discount for couples who get married on a Sunday.

Catering

When you look at the menu, you can't help but get a taste of what's to come. Each option created by Executive Chef, Mathew Brook, sounds luxuriously delicious – including mascarpone cheese and maple syrup covered walnuts, stuffed free range chicken supreme with stuffed roasted red pepper and chevre, Atlantic salmon filet with ginger lime soya marinade and mohogany, or penne arrabiatta. And the desserts are to die for – seasonal fruit in a brandy snap, vanilla crème brûlée tart, and cheesecakes are just a few of the options available. Not to mention the midnight buffet selections that range from sweet trays to cheese plates and seasonal fruit displays to sandwiches and wraps.

Dinner costs depend on your selections; however, dinner starts at $39.95 per plate. Vanessa told us, "Custom menus are very popular, and we are able to work with the bride and groom to create your perfect wedding banquet - we are flexible!"

All couples who book with Cutten Fields, not only work closely with Vanessa and her team, but also with the Executive Chef when it comes to planning their wedding. "The chef personally attends most tastings in order to make sure that the couple gets what they want for their wedding," says Vanessa.

We were married April 14th of this year and held our reception at the Cuttens Fields Golf & Country Club. We had a short afternoon reception with light refreshments. Our guests raved about the atmosphere, food and service that was provided. Working with Vanessa was wonderful. Knowing that this is a second marriage for each of us she made us feel as though it was our first, this was very refreshing. Her attention to detail and warm friendly personality made the planning smooth and enjoyable. Beautiful grounds for our wedding photos. Our overall experience at the Cutten Field made our wedding day perfect.

Thank you Cutten Fields & Vanessa.

My husband and I got married in Mexico, Mayan Riveria in January 2011. We wanted to have a celebration when we got back with our friends and family! 60 of us went to mexico, and about 120 came to the reception at the Cutten Club.
First off, Vanessa was absolutely AMAZING to work with! I'm a very indecisive bride, so I wanted her opinion and thoughts on pretty much everything, and MY GOODNESS!!! AMAZING... THANK YOU VANESSA WITHOUT YOU I DONT KNOW IF I COULD EVER MAKE DECISIONS!!!!!!

We had two halls one was for the stations, and the other room was for our tables, and dance floor. The hall itself is gorgeous INSIDE AND OUT!

We wanted to do something different when it came to food, so Vanessa suggested Food Stations. AND THIS WAS A HUGE HIT! Everyone loved it. We started with Wondering Hors D'oeuvre. We only had good reviews from our guests regarding the ones we chose. We had a meat/bun/cheese station, Beef station: Cut right there in front of our guests, Pasta Station: our guests could tell the chef what type of pasta, sauce and veggies they wanted, it was cooked right htere in front of them. Potato Station: our guests could make poutines if they wanted.
Dessert, we had a pastry and fruit station, along with our wedding cupcakes! Coffee, Tea was also available.

Honestly, from day one when stepping foot into the venue, I FELL IN LOVE! I did not need to look any further! And after speaking with Vanessa, it made us feel more sure that this is where we wanted to have our reception. NO QUESTIONS ASKED! All the staff was absolutely AMAZING! THANK YOU TO CUTTEN CLUB STAFF, AND VANESSA FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!
You all made our day/reception a very memorable one!!!!! THANK YOU!

Amanda & Daniel Curtis

Thank you for your efforts with the Cook-Shantz wedding on Aug. 29. We were completely thrilled with all aspects of the service and reception. The patio and grounds provided a beautiful backdrop for the service, and the club was very well appointed for the reception. Your personal efforts before and during the ceremony certainly helped everything run very smoothly.
We were most impressed, as were all the guests, with the wonderful cocktail reception. The food was delicious, most abundant and exquisitely presented. The service was most efficient, and consistently courteous and friendly. Your staff is to be strongly congratulated for their efforts.
Your suggestions in preparation for this event were well thought out and reflected your experience and professionalism. It is without hesitation that we would strongly recommend your club and personal services for anyone planning an event for which they wished to create a “wow” factor.

Chris and I were married on January 3, 2009, at the Cutten Club in Guelph. It was a dream wedding. Chris and I are from out of town, and we were not able to deal with all of the details that planning a wedding necessitates! However, Vanessa at the Club was fantastic. Because of her, planning our wedding was easy. She took care of so many details, both large and small. She made every effort to ensure that our big day went smoothly. And it did. The day we got married was stress free and unbelievably fun, and it was honestly because of Vanessa and the rest of the staff at the Cutten Club.

The Cutten Club as a wedding venue was incredible. It is absolutely gorgeous, both inside and out. We had a winter wedding, and the carpet of snow over the golf course was stunning, as were our outdoor photographs! We were a bit apprehensive about marrying in the winter, but now we are recommending it to all of our friends! The inside of the Club was even better. Our wedding was elegant, and the atmosphere was both sophisticated and welcoming at the same time. The place settings were stunning, as were the chair treatments, table cloths and runners. The room was large, with very high ceilings, and our photographer kept commenting on how excellent the lighting was--we have some amazing photos by the windows with the light streaming in.

The food at the Club was fantastic. After the ceremony (which was also held at the club), staff offered our guests appetizers, which looked great and tasted even better! Everyone said that the meal was excellent--the portions were generous and the presentation was beautiful. And most importantly, everything tasted great. Even our vegetarian friends were impressed by the vegetarian entree. We had a cheese and dessert table later in the night and it, too, looked fabulous. We did not run out of anything! Vanessa was extremely helpful in helping us choose our menu options, and even recommended wines to go with our meal.

The staff was courteous and friendly, and went out of their way to ensure that our day was perfect, going so far as to add extra potatoes and vegetables to my husband's plate, because he has such a large appetite! The meal was served quickly and efficiently, and did not interfere in any way with the speeches, which were going on at the same time.

As for logistics, the location was easy to find, with several large hotels nearby. Vanessa even provided us with an easy to read map that we could add to the invitations. There was plenty of parking. I got dressed at the Club, and there was lots of space to get ready. The bathrooms were lovely and very clean!

Everyone commented on how beautiful our wedding was, how elegant the rooms looked, and how smoothly everything went, from the ceremony to the reception. It looked so effortless--but Chris and I both know that it was due to the tireless work of Vanessa and the fantastic staff at the Club.

I can honestly say that I had the wedding of my dreams--it was beautiful, elegant, and best of all, practically effortless. I would recommend to anyone thinking of getting married in the Toronto area to seriously consider the Cutten Club for their ceremony and reception. We did, and we have absolutely no regrets.

To Vanessa and the staff at the Club, thanks a million times over, we could not have had a better day, and we will cherish our wedding memories (and fantastic photos) forever.

Wilma & Chris
