Residents of the Kitchener-Waterloo area know Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort as the local ski and snowboard hill, and the chalet where they warm up with a cup of hot chocolate after many hours on the slopes – and it’s been that way for 75 years! But what we recently discovered when we met up with their Events Coordinator, is that the chalet can be transformed into a gorgeous reception location, and what better surroundings than the rolling hills the Club is known for? While the floor to ceiling fireplace provides the perfect ambiance for Fall and Winter weddings with windows overlooking the picturesque landscape, the beautiful cedar deck and pond view patio also make Chicopee an ideal location for outdoor ceremonies and warm summer evening receptions. And, with capacity for up to 300, full catering service, amazing photo opportunities on-site and friendly and courteous staff, we’re surprised that more brides haven’t discovered the potential that Chicopee has – it’s more than just a ski hill, and here’s why we think you’ll love it for weddings all year round…
A jewel in the community
Since 1934, Chicopee has provided a ski venue for Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and surrounding areas, and it hasn’t waned in popularity since then. In fact, they even focus on their off-season activities to ensure that the community can enjoy Chicopee all year round.
As a not for profit organization that’s owned by its members and managed by the Executive Director and Senior Management team, we learned that it’s the “staff, members, and volunteers, that truly reveal the heart and soul which has made this small hill a Jewel in Kitchener’s Crown.”
A part of this team, and just some of the key players involved with weddings and events at Chicopee are Liz Wadeson, Special Event Coordinator, Dave Stalzar, Manager of Food & Beverage and Mark Leeming, Head Chef.
Room options and layouts
At Chicopee, there are many unique options when it comes to hosting your ceremony and reception with varying capacities and prices. But one thing stays constant – the neutral décor allows for decorating options of many styles, and the surrounding landscape makes for both great photos and gorgeous views for you and your guests.
The Silvertip Lounge | 140 dinner seating / ranges from $325 + dance floor rental of $100: This room overlooks the hills and sets the mood with a floor to ceiling fireplace and wall to wall windows. It can be set-up as a lounge, theatre, classroom, or banquet and is adjacent to Chicopee Hall. The Cedar Deck overlooking the hills is also available from the Silvertip Lounge and can fit up to 100+ guests for an outdoor ceremony. Ceremony space is available for $200.
This was one of our favourite spots when we visited Chicopee - it's cozy, and the view is gorgeous year round.
Chicopee Hall | 200 dinner seating / ranges from $625 + rentals: Adjacent to the Silvertip Lounge, the Chicopee Hall is on the second floor of the Chalet at Chicopee and is perfect for a large wedding. Patio access is available, or if it’s chilly out, the room is also full of windows that overlook the grounds from an indoor view. The hall can be set-up as per your needs: theatre, classroom, cafeteria, or banquet and is decorated in neutral tones, allowing for a blank canvass for most styles of décor.
Summit Room | 20 guests: This lofted area above the Silvertip Lounge offers a unique space for a bridal suite or play care facility for your young guests.
The Den | 10 guests: Nestled in the main hall, this room is ideal for a bridal party gathering area or quiet get away for young guests.
But, if you know the Chicopee grounds and have something else in mind for your event, they told us that any other areas that you’re interested in renting can be discussed with the Special Events Coordinator. The team is both flexible and creative - if you want to add a tent to the tennis courts or have a ceremony in a clearing in the woods, Chicopee is more than happy to accommodate.

Various menu options are available at Chicopee from buffet-style to BBQ’s and host bars with their wine choices to your own personal favourites at varying prices per person. The team is willing to work with you to ensure your every request is met and you personally design your day in every regard.
