Reviewing the Best Western® PLUS St. Jacobs Country Inn
Review is written by Staff @ The Ring and is based on • Interviews with this vendor • Interviews with past brides
Whether your friends and family are coming from Guelph or Collingwood, it is the bride and groom's responsibility to reserve a group of rooms at a discounted rate at a place where they know their family and friends will be comfortable. The newly renovated guest rooms at the Best Western PLUS St. Jacobs Country Inn are just that, and the hotel happens to offer a discounted rate of up to 20% when you book the rooms in groups of ten or more.
A well-known fixture on the edge of Waterloo for almost twelve years, this location is conveniently located close to the shops of St. Jacobs, local theatres, antique shops and great restaurants. It's also one hour from the Toronto airport, ten minutes from Uptown Waterloo, and is a wonderful choice for couples who are looking for unique and cozy country charm. With reasonable prices and amazing personalized service that is flexible and accommodating, it's no surprise that many local brides rave about this wonderful location. And with their newly renovated guest rooms and many amenities that come with staying overnight, you and your guests are sure to enjoy yourselves even after the party is over. Let us explain...
Personally speaking...
A part of the helpful staff at the St. Jacobs Country Inn is Sales and Catering Coordinator, Carmen Briggs, who is involved with your wedding from beginning to end. "I think we convey to couples in a special way how well we can plan and execute their wedding day," she told The Ring.
Carmen says that her experience with and knowledge of weddings grows with each one. She told The Ring that her biggest achievement in 2009 was "To see our weddings improve with each and every one. We strive for this goal by trying to more than meet our clients' expectations. Guests leave knowing that we did our absolute best for them and for their family and friends." The staff is also terrific and very accommodating according to what Jennifer and John Rupnow told The Ring. Their wedding guests spent the night at the St. Jacobs Country Inn after their wedding.
The intimate, castle-like location...
This luxury hotel is reminiscent of a castle, set out in St. Jacobs country amidst some of the best shopping that the K-W area has to offer. The Inn is a great choice for couples who are looking for comfortable and reasonably priced accommodations.
By blocking rooms for your out of town guests at the St. Jacobs Country Inn, couples are giving their family and friends a taste of the best part of the area. From the wall-to-wall windows of the front foyer, you can see and walk to the St. Jacobs Outlet Mall and the Farmer's Market.
When we visited the Inn we were overwhelmed with a feeling of class and elegance. When you stand in front of the building, you see nine foot windows across, Canadian and American flags flying above the entrance and three-story high walls. Inside, the bright and airy foyer holds a comfortable sitting area with high-backed chairs, a customer service area, a stately oak staircase, baby grand piano, hand-crafted quilt artwork (each with a story behind it to add to the country theme) and a large and stunning chandelier. If you added a horse-drawn carriage, you'd no doubt have yourself a Cinderella wedding here.
A honeymoon suite in the country
On the night of your wedding day, you and your new spouse can enjoy The Inn's Honeymoon Suite, which offers a whirlpool tub for two, a fireplace, a king size bed and a special rate package to go along with it. For $299, you'll be treating yourself. The room also comes with champagne, strawberries, chocolates, a hot breakfast delivered to your room, a late check out of one pm, and a 25% off coupon for your next stay (a great idea for your first anniversary!).
Room renovations, options and comfort
On our grand tour of the St. Jacobs Country Inn we were shown different types of guest and meeting rooms and other facilities they have to offer. The Inn has many different room layouts with 118 rooms in total.
You and your guests can spend the night in the newly renovated guest rooms, which Carmen told us was the most exciting change that happened at the Inn in 2009. All guest rooms were redecorated with new carpeting, drapery, furniture, pictures and more. We suggest going to check it out for yourself to see how fabulous it all looks.
All of the rooms are spacious and pristine and decorated tastefully with comfort in mind. Accents include moulding, marble, fireplaces, work centres, free high speed internet in every room, large, comfortable chairs for lounging, kitchenettes and whirlpool spas for quiet relaxation at the end of the day.

In other words...
"Shirley and I could never thank you enough the personal approach and attention to our every need, even when we changed our minds on some slight details like the beverage choice then making a change half way through the evening. You guys were the best, thank you thank you again. On top of it all you managed to do all this on such short notice... the decorations, the music, the candles... you made our small wedding a big event. I'm sure we could elaborate more. We will be in touch in the near future... for now, your friends and more than satisfied happily married newlyweds." - Dick & Shirley
