Waiting in the lobby of the Atlantis Pavilion, enjoying the complimentary cups of coffee offered to us, we were captivated by the Laskeshore views. The floor to ceiling windows enclosing the building means that every single room has a view of the water. We all stood up and there wasn't a spot in the place where you didn't get a view of the city and the lake. It was incredible. The structure itself is actually on stilts and looks as if it is levitating over the water. We sat back down on the comfortable leather loungers and enjoyed our coffee and the million dollar view.
The Island of Atlantis
There are four large rooms to choose from for your reception. They are all lovely spaces and have terrific views of the water. Couples can decide on the room based on the size of their guest list. In the largest room, The Metropolitan Room, there is an option for couples to have a one minute fireworks display, often chosen to occur during their first song. There is also a 72 by 30 foot white wall outside facing the room where many couples opt to have images displayed some even showing a reel of photos live from the wedding. There is very little need for additional decoration as the city views, water and large windows provide a great deal of atmosphere. (Each room also includes a wedding suite.) There is also a roofdeck where couples can choose to have the wedding ceremony. (The reception is not permitted on the roofdeck.)
Walking You Through It
When you first call Atlantis you will speak with a Salesperson who will make an appointment to show you the space, discuss your options and cost. Once you have chosen where you would like to hold the event (s) you will be assigned a Detail Specialist who will help you organize what you will need for your big day. They will also provide you with a list of preferred vendors and suppliers, although you are not obligated to use them. There is an onsite caterer and there are South Asian, Kosher and Chinese menu packages available. On the day of the wedding the Operations Manager will be on-site to make sure everything goes as planned.
Everyone has Traveled to Atlantis
Atlantis Pavilion has been used for various celebrity engagements. Trish Stratus, WWE wrestler, was married here. Dalton McGuinty and David Suzuki have also been keynote speakers at the venue. When the Queen visited Canada some time ago, Atlantis hosted an event in her honour.
Who Gets Married At Atlantis?
Darren Bryant, Director of Marketing at Atlantis, says couples looking for something unique and outside the box choose the venue. There is so much “wow” factor built in that very little has to be added. As guests arrive, particularly during evening receptions they are further “wowed” by the lights of the skyline. As Darren said, “the ambiance the city creates is just stunning and unlike any other. The glass walls, the view of the city, it’s magical.”
Final Thoughts…
The venue lends itself well to multiple events happening at the same time without compromising the integrity of any event. Each room has its own exclusive washrooms, wedding suite and skyway patio area. Darren referred to Atlantis as a couple’s “one stop shop” for all their wedding planning. The staff is there to make sure the wedding ceremony and reception go as envisioned and that everyone has a good time. We think with fireworks, breathtaking views and five-star cuisine, guests will be talking about your Atlantis wedding for years to come!
