{Reality Wedding Story} Navy, Blush & Vintage at Elsie Perrin Williams Estate | Erica & Adam

Venue: Elsie Perrin Williams Estate | Photo: The Bridal Lounge

Erica and Adam’s wedding really came to life through Erica’s love of history and all things vintage! With lot’s of lace, old storybooks and a beautiful colour palette, they were able to make something beautiful for their friends and family to enjoy…

Bride & Groom: Erica Warner & Adam Moir

Wedding Date: May 20th , 2017

Ceremony & Reception Location: Elsie Perrin Williams Estate (elsieperrinwilliamsestate.ca)

“We chose this location for both it’s historical beauty and overwhelmingly stunning grounds and gardens.” – E&A

Theme: “What inspired our wedding theme was my love for history and vintage styles. Elsie Perrin completed this vision with its late 19th century- early 20th century feel. Much of the design and furniture are still original to the estate. We continued with this vintage theme with old books and candles throughout our décor.” – E

Colours: “Our colours were navy blue and blush. Adam, my now husband, wanted to wear navy blue, and my dress was blush. Somehow the two colours just worked perfectly at Elsie Perrin.” – E

How did you two meet? “We met through mutual friends. We went bowling and out for drinks. The rest is history!” – E

How did he pop the question? “Adam asked me to marry him on my 25th birthday. He had taken me to a small cottage just outside Huntsville in the Muskoka region. We went out for a hike, where we found a small opening that overlooked the beautiful waters. He was quiet and still for a few moments before saying he had something to ask me. Quiet & still is very much unlike Adam. He’s a chatty go-getter, so maybe I should have seen it coming. It was a wonderful birthday surprise.” – E

Number of guests: 60 people

Budget: “$10,000. But we probably spent $12,000” – E

Photographer: Kelly Taylor- The Bridal Lounge (thebridallounge.ca)  “I found her by googling photographers in the London area. I noticed she ran her business out of the same town that I grew up in. I figured it was a sign, plus I loved her work! What made us go with Kelly was how natural all of her photos are. She has this incredible ability to capture the natural beauty in the scenery, the way she has the sunlight fall just right in each picture, and how nothing seems out of place, it’s all so natural. Kelly’s creativity allows her to use the environment around her to do one of a kind shots.  Kelly has this energy about her that radiates and instantly makes you feel as if you have known her forever. You find yourself so comfortable as if you are with a life long friend, and her photos reflect this.” – E

Flowers: “In all honesty, we went with the cheapest florist I could find. I regret it. My flowers were horrible! The flowers were nothing like what I told the florist I wanted! They looked half dead when they were delivered! And it only got worse throughout the day. My flowers were snapping off the stems and even my grandfather’s boutonniere. From this, I learned that sometimes you get what you pay for.” – E

Décor: “For the décor we kept it simple, Elsie Perrin has so much natural beauty, that it really speaks for itself. But, for the centerpieces, we used old vintage books and with a vase and flower on top to help set a romantic feel. The birdcages on the tables were Adam’s idea and I think they helped create that vintage romantic look we wanted. We bought our table runners at a local store where we live. Adam cut them perfectly! I wanted these runners since they were lace with a little bit of blush in them.” – E

Fav décor element: “My favourite décor element was the signs that we had made by Two Wooden Shoes (facebook.com/twowoodenshoes). Each sign had a phrase on it that made me think of Adam and the life we have together.” – E

Cake: “We had cupcakes, from the Painted Cake (painted-cake.com) in Strathroy. I wanted blue icing on the cupcakes and the Baker pointed out that blush would be better, since blue might cause people’s teeth to turn colour! I am so glad she pointed this out to me, instead of just doing “whatever the bride wanted.”” – E

Wedding Favours: “My Dad picked out our wedding favours. Although they were not my first choice, they turned out to be a big hit! We gave out Rheo Thompson (rheothompson.com) mint smoothies.” – E

Bride’s Dress: “I LOVED my dress! I felt beautiful in it and felt it went with the image I had for our wedding. I would not change a single thing about it. I got my dress a few months after getting engaged at Once Upon a Time Weddings in Strathroy (onceuponatimeweddings.ca). I would highly recommend them to anyone.” – E

Bridesmaids Attire and Accessories: “I just had one girl stand with me. My Maid of Honor, my best friend since I was 2 years old. I didn’t care what she wore so long as she was comfortable. I loved her dress and thought she looked beautiful in it. The necklace she wore had some of her mom’s ashes in them. Her wearing this necklace made her feel that a woman who I have known for so long, was a part of my day.” -E

Music: “Mary Ashton was our harpist for our ceremony and cocktail hour. She did amazing work and played the most romantic music I could only dream about. The harp was the perfect instrument for our vintage wedding. We had many compliments on her talent.” – E

Officiant: “Debra Taylor from All Seasons Weddings (allseasonsweddings.com). I found she made our ceremony exactly what we wanted it to be. The words she spoke and the words we repeated was perfect to us and who we are. Her voice was flawless and she spoke with grace and professionalism. I felt she had control over the room so that there were not any distractions from our service. I don’t think there could have been anyone better to marry us!” -E

Hair & Make-up: “My make-up was done by Taylor, a make-up artist at Sephora- White Oaks mall. I am not usually an individual who wears make-up or has much confidence. Taylor really made my natural features pop, and gave me the confidence I needed to feel like a bride. I loved how I still looked like myself! I highly recommend Taylor to any bride!
My hair was done by Amberly at Amberly’s hair. I loved it! She made every strand of hair perfect and created the look I wanted and more!!” -E

Catering:Culinary Catering (culinarycatering.ca) was the exclusive catering company for Elsie Perrin Williams Estate. They did our cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, main meal, dessert, and set up the tables and linens. I even had my very own wedding coordinator, who made sure my dress was perfect before walking down the aisle. She even told my Dad and I when it was our time to go. The food was delicious and they were very thorough. Every detail was covered by Culinary Catering, and whatever I wanted they did, even if it made things harder for them.” – E

Biggest Challenge: “The biggest challenge to planning my wedding was the beginning! The options are endless! Once I found my perfect venue where I could picture Adam & I joining together forever, everything else seemed to have just fallen in place.” – E

Best Wedding Memory: “The best memory of my wedding was once I got to the end of the aisle and all Adam could say was “Hi” in a very excited/ nervous voice. And the look on his face as he watched me, knowing that this was forever. I don’t think I had ever seen him happier, nor had I ever felt happier. ” – E

Advice from one Bride to Another: “There is a lot of work involved in planning a wedding, I would say that it’s an emotional and stressful time. Take it one step at a time. Write down what you want, what you did, and what you have to do still. Don’t lose sight of what the day is really about. It’s not about the centerpieces or even the dress! It’s about you and the one that you love above all others coming together forever.” – E
