{Reality Wedding Story} Modern Elegance at Revival House

Venue: Revival House | Photo: Dana Ruby-Martin Photography

Every detail of Carrie and Cory’s wedding was lovingly planned and flawlessly carried out. Their theme’s details began with their unique, beautiful venue, Revival House. They explained, “Revival House offers stained glass windows, cathedral ceilings, gorgeous chandelier…Their food is phenomenal – it is art on a plate and tastes fantastic! We loved that we could hold the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception all in one place (there is separate space upstairs for cocktail hour)… [and] Revival House’s Special Event Planner, Alysha Ford, was amazing to work with.”

BIGGEST CHALLENGES: Enjoying the moments without getting too stressed. Trying to keep on schedule all day and enjoy the moments without getting too stressed. “We reminded ourselves that certain moments are priceless and that being 5 minutes behind to really be in the moment was okay, the day would still go on!… We also found that taking the majority of the photos before the ceremony was helpful…we had more time [for] everything.”

BEST MEMORIES

For Cory, it was “Just celebrating our day with family and friends and having a great time…” For Carrie, it was, “Having a special moment with my grandparents… I went over to their home after I was ready and in my dress, and we had some time with just my Oma and Opa, mom and dad, and sister (Dana was also there to capture the moment)… Also seeing the groom for the first time during the reveal…”

ADVICE FOR FUTURE NEARLYWEDS:

1. Consider taking your wedding photos before the ceremony. We did a reveal, which included the wedding party and immediate family prior to ceremony taking place…We were able to get the remaining photos taken within the cocktail hour.

2. Purchase umbrellas for the wedding party in the case that it rains.

3. Purchase a bucket of flip-flops for your wedding guests (so they can continue dancing after their feet start to hurt). I also purchased a cute pair for myself that looked good with my dress.

4. Keep a list of everything you need to do/have done so you can keep track of it.

5. Get started early!

6. Share something personal about your relationship with your guests. We heard great feedback from our guests that they enjoyed hearing about how we met and how the relationship developed.

7. Collaborate with your partner to create the wedding you both want. Cory was very involved in the wedding planning process. It made the process more fun and less stressful.

8. Have fun with the planning! We scheduled outings around the planning, such as an evening away in Niagara on the Lake for wine tasting (when choosing our dinner wine), a lunch out at Revival House before meeting with the Special Events Planner… •
