Staff at the Ring sat down with Rachel Radu to learn more about the wedding décor packages and services offered.

About Rachel and Co…

Rachel originally began Rachel & Co. because she wanted to stay home with her three children, while still making an income. That was 11 years ago and since then, the business has continued to flourish. With having decorated over 300 weddings, Rachel views each one as a new and exciting challenge.

And at Rachel & Co., weddings are a team effort. “We believe our key players are all the wonderful individuals responsible for bringing the dream to life,” says Rachel about the designers, planners, florist and other wedding service providers. “We are all responsible for making sure these lovely couples and their loved ones have the most unforgettable experience.”

“It’s an honor to be a part of someone’s life,” she says. “No two weddings are ever the same and the fact that I get to witness these love stories is a blessing to me.”

Growing up Rachel always had a knack for making creative things, so starting a wedding décor business utilized her creative passion. Once she made the decision to open her own business, she took some business courses from the Small Business Centre, as well as cake decorating and floral design classes.

According to Erin Bechtel, Rachel provided her with all the décor as she needed for her wedding at a very fair price, prices which Erin describes as beating most industry standards.

“I loved Rachel’s elegant style,” says Erin. “It fit with my vintage-romantic theme perfectly.”

“The two most important things to me were finding someone who understood my vision for my special day, and someone who was reasonably priced,” explains Amanda Haryett. “Rachel was both of those things. Other decorators talked to me about specific and individual pieces of the room, Rachel talked to me about my overall vision. I felt that she instantly understood what I wanted even when I failed to put it into words. She was also very reasonable in that I did not think she was trying to “upsell” me on any pieces, but instead stuck to what would fit in the space as a whole. On top of that, I found her to be very affordable, and was willing to throw in a few extras for me at no additional cost.”

“She is unique, and puts so much thought into each and every one of her events. She is also very modern and classy which is exactly what we were looking for when it came to our wedding décor,” says Courtney Buchanan.
Amanda loved the way Rachel put the room together in her head and then was able to pick pieces that drew the room together in simple ways.

“She added a few pieces of bling on the parts that mattered – the head table, the archway for the ceremony – and let the other pieces blend together so that the focus was always in the center of the room,“ says Amanda.

Rachel & Co. offers full wedding planning and décor packages starting at $500. Rachel tailors the style of her services based on the personality of the couple – no two events are the same and every wedding has its own unique flare to it.

Depending on the services required – whether it’s planning, setup or tear down – Rachel determines who is there on the day of the wedding. Services range from chair covers, sashes, table linens, overlays, runners, napkins, large decor pieces, back drop and ceiling canopies, head table, center pieces, ceremony and reception accessories and more.

“I like to have the initial meeting with the couple, so I get a good understanding of who the couple is and what they would like for their outcome,” says Rachel.

“We had some good laughs while planning the wedding, she was very easygoing and has a great sense of humor,” says Amanda. “To be able to work with someone who was very open and fun made the whole experience easy and lighthearted. Every meeting was welcoming, like we had been longtime friends.”

For Erin, working with Rachel was a fantastic experience.

“Rachel was very flexible,” she says, adding that Rachel was very understanding that she was traveling from out of town to meet with her, so Rachel met her half-way for their final consult the week before the wedding. “She was fun and easy to get along with.”

Amanda agrees that working with Rachel was a great experience and describes her as being very laid back, understanding and co-operative.

“She was flexible meeting me late in the evening and was really good at managing my “bride brain,” says Amanda. “I would absolutely use her again for my next event and I have recommended her to all my friends. I felt that she let me voice my opinion and took careful consideration to my overall vision when helping me choose pieces for the room,” she says, adding that everything was done in a timely manner. “I had absolutely no concerns leaving this in her capable hands. There were no last-minute concerns on the wedding day and when I arrived the night before for the rehearsal dinner everything was set up. On the day of she added a few finishing touches that really lit up the room when I walked in.”

“Our biggest reason for hiring Rachel and Co. was not only her amazing display at the wedding show we attended, but Rachel herself,” says Courtney. “She is an amazing person inside and out and was so great to us right from the beginning.”

When asked why brides choose her, Rachel admits it because she’s able to visualize what a couple wants for their big day. Her ability to bring the couple’s vision to life has contributed to the majority of her business coming from word-of-mouth.

“Rachel and Co.’s pricing was great,” says Courtney. “We found great quality of work in the price point we paid. She was exactly in our budget and went above and beyond to make our wedding look gorgeous,” she says, adding that she was blown away when she first walked into ballroom.

Amanda also believes Rachel & Co.’s prices are very reasonable.

“I wanted to keep my decoration budget under $2000, and she was able to do that (with 120 people). In comparison, I was quoted $3500 from another company for a similar outline, which would have never worked for us. Rachel was worth every penny and made my perfect day even more beautiful,” says Amanda. “I wouldn’t have changed a thing – I recommend her to everyone!”
