Planning
Your Own Affair
Ultimate Affairs' Holiday
Planning Tips
ORGANIZATION
IS KEY
Give yourself time to create a menu from which you make a
shopping list. Décor, entertainment, its attention to detail that makes
the difference. Allow plenty of time to prepare for your party, make a
list and shop smart. When party-time approaches things may become
hectic! So stay organized.
ULTIMATE HORS D'OEUVRES
Choose your snacks carefully. Try setting a theme for the food
in each room or on each table. This will help your party “flow”. Allow 4
to 6 hot hors d'oeurves per person. Be cautious with gooey, drippy
sauces near expensive rugs or furniture. Keep some carpet cleaner on
hand, just in case.
ULTIMATE
KEEP-IT-COOL IDEA
Planning on serving plenty of ice cold beer or soda? Forget
about filling your refrigerator or cooler, use your washing machine! Put
a few bags of ice and in the washer and then fill the tub with beer and
soda. You'll save room and emptying the melted ice will be a breeze and
mess free!
ULTIMATE MOMENTO
Help make the party memorable, having a guest book can be much
fun! Don't be afraid to put out a guest book and invite your guests to
sign a page. You can take pictures from the party and add them at a
later date or if you have the equipment, print add attach to the
appropriate page. This is a fun activity for some guests to help you
with.
ULTIMATE
TOUCHES
Don’t forget a room everyone is going to see, the bathroom. Add a
scented candle. Leave an extra roll of toilet tissue in easy view. Offer
your guests mouthwash by pouring your favourite brand into a whisky
decanter....much prettier than a plastic bottle!
AN AFFAIR YOU'LL REMEMBER
Try to not knock yourself out to make the party perfect. With
the first ring of the door bell, take a deep breath and switch from
“work” mode to “party” mode. The best hosts and hostesses are ones that
relax and mingle with the guests. After all, it’s the holidays! That
alone should bring warmth to everyone’s hearts and smiles to everyone’s
faces.
