Bridesmaids were outfitted in floor length, purple, Alfred Angelo gowns of all different styles. Each girl also had a different piece of bold statement jewellery and one wore a birdcage veil in her hair to match the theme. The guys rented tuxes from Collins Formal Wear – black vests and ties for the groomsmen and ivory for Mike.

Jenn and Mike hired Lee to make sure they were able to capture the true glamour of the wedding with all of the details, and because they liked the “unique angles and distinctive shots” they’d seen in his portfolio.

The ceremony began at 4 pm at the Delta London Armouries, a location chosen because of its overall look and feel. “The ballroom with crystal chandeliers, Victorian moulding, and brass accents fit our 1930s old Hollywood glamour theme,” the couple tells us. A bonus just happened to be that the Delta offered an all-inclusive package, which included the ballroom, tables, chairs and linens.

Bridesmaids walked down the aisle to “Moonlight Serenade” by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and after a short, sweet ceremony, Jennifer Millett became Mrs. Jennifer Edwards. Guests were then served cocktails as the wedding party hit the streets in and around downtown London for photos. Jenn and Mike said it was great working with the Lee Mann Photography team. “They were able to capture our special theme. The photos were perfect and truly reflective of the glamorous day.”

Jenn actually handpicked every song for the wedding, including those for preludes, the ceremony, cocktails and the dinner reception. “It was all big band, swing and jazz from the 1930s and 1940s.”

Ivory ostrich feather centerpieces decorated the ballroom and guests could pose for photos at the vintage photo booth, which was made by a friend of Jenn’s mother.

The wall had family wedding photos in vintage frames hanging on it, with a large frame cut out for guests to stand behind. “It was really important for us to have a memory table, so it worked out this way. Our guests had such a blast with it,” say Jenn and Mike.

Another friend of Jenn’s mother, Sharon’s Cakes, made a three-tier vanilla cake covered in large sugar crystals with a vintage broach and feathers on top.

In lieu of traditional wedding favours, Jenn and Mike made a donation to the Children’s Health Foundation. The happy couple say that speeches, cake cutting and the bouquet toss were all highlights of the reception. And while it might be a long winter for them both as Mike is going to Afghanistan for six months, their timeless wedding theme is sure to ring true for their love as well.
