It was in second grade that Chris Semcov first took an interest in photography. With help from his dad, he learned the dark room basics and fell in love with his craft. Since then, Chris has shot 250+ weddings from Europe to Canada! Says Chris, "For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a camera in my hand, taking pictures of my family and friends was a part of my life. Being able to earn a living doing something I truly love to do is one of the best things in my life."
When Chris moved to Canada, he soon launched StudioChris in 2009 and has quickly become in-demand in Southwestern Ontario. Last year, he took on 15 weddings in the area and has seen many return clients. "It's nice to see a past groom's sister from a 2010 wedding book her 2013 wedding with StudioChris."
Today, Chris is the main photographer at StudioChris. He does however have a close knit group of professional assistants and other photographers that he works with on a regular basis.
So what keeps Chris inspired after so many weddings? Chris explains, "I always knew that I would own my own photography business. This is what I love to do! Chris adds that capturing the emotion, love and laughter of such an important part in his client's lives is an honour that he takes seriously." Weddings, like similar once-in-a-lifetime situations, require an intuitive sensitivity for the situation, and outstanding photographic technical competency. There are no second chances!"

If you're looking for photo shoot locations that have you heading down back roads, hidden allies, open fields, and any other interesting places you can think of, then you'll likely love Dudek Photography who thrives on going new places and doing news things in order to turn his wedding photos into artwork. Owner and Photographer, Damian Dudek, adds that he will also (of course) get the must-haves and make sure he captures all of the real moments from the day while incorporating the couple's personalities.
Anyone who's from the local area (and even many who just come to visit), knows that the Waterloo Inn Conference Hotel has a reputation for providing excellent banquets and hospitality for over thirty-five years. They've continually expanded and renovated their facility in order to host a myriad of occasions from corporate parties to business meetings and thousands of wedding receptions for ten to 500 guests. With over ten years of experience in the wedding industry, first as a photographer, then a recent bride, and now the Owner of her shoe and accessories store, Simona Gagliostro of Urban Bride, seems to know what local brides are looking for and what they expect in service when they go out looking for it. Urban Bride is conveniently located in downtown Kitchener and is your one-stop shop for your bridal shoes (including custom design/colour shoes), accessories, custom flower girl dresses and more. You get the vast selection of shopping online with the comfort of dealing with a friendly and professional person face to face. Setting this shop apart from larger gown franchises, Urban Bride supports local designers by carrying their lines in her busy shop and using local talent (as well as imported, exclusive, and one-of-a-kind designers) to customize items for her brides – whether it’s adding bows and feathers to accessories or creating unique shoe clips.
The Ring met with Simona at her cool, cozy storefront and found that she had a ton of great samples for brides to browse through. And what we couldn’t find in stock, there was a catalogue we could order from or a fun way to customize what was on the shelf. Combining her love of fashion and photography, Simona offers items to cover many brides' wedding needs in one destination, from classic to trendy – whatever an urban bride needs. And that's why we knew that Urban Bride was destined to be famous among local brides looking for just that - and we were right. Let us tell you more…
We first met Chris Love on The Ring's chat boards. At the time, she was busy posting advice answers on wedding planning, relationships, dealing with difficult family members and, well, you get the picture. So, why was a married woman chatting in our bridal forums? Because she could...
Chris has always found herself completely drawn to all things weddings, eventually prompting her to undertake studies to become an Officiant. "I'm a romantic. There are very few days that are as important to someone's life as the wedding day. I love chatting with brides and helping them any way I can."
Since the day Chris earned her right to pronounce you husband and wife, this woman has found her way into the hearts of local couples with a ceremony that has deep meaning, but maybe not the word, God. "I believe that a ceremony based on faith in love itself is as equally important as a religious faith-based ceremony."
Most brides expect photography and DJ services to each have their own line on their to-do lists. The three elements each play major parts in the wedding and ultimately come with their own set of research, quoting and hiring tasks. But Cameron Shaver Photography is one of the few local wedding companies presenting brides with another option offering multiple services under one roof. Cameron Shaver, Owner and Operator of the company, calls his business a one-stop shop for photography and DJ services, meaning you cross one, two or three things off your list just by meeting with him.
There likely isn't a bride or wedding vendor in town that would challenge the reputation of the Walper Hotel, or the elegance of a wedding that takes place within it.
To most in the community, the Walper Hotel is both a Kitchener landmark and the epitome of elegance, class, and local history. Within its doors, you'll find six banquet room options, eighty-two guest rooms, an on-site restaurant, a historical pub, and one hundred and twenty years of experience in catering to royalty, celebrities, government - and of course many, many brides.
Bingemans has got to be one of the most recognized names in Kitchener-Waterloo's wedding and events industry. Bingemans easily and repeatedly makes it onto the list of reception halls for most local brides and is on an exclusive and preferred catering list at many other wedding locations throughout the region.
Why The Ring?
The Ring is different from most wedding web sites and magazines because we go further than advertising for vendors or basic wedding tips for brides. Each advertiser Interviews & Reviewed in The Wedding Ring selects wedding professionals for their reputation, their cool-factor, and by the the fact that we've met them, like them, and want to tell you all about them. Many vendors have been recommended to us by other brides and wedding industry experts. The Ring's staff has done its homework, checked references, and asked around to find great services that can work with all different tastes, budgets and preferences. You'll have lots of options to plan the perfect wedding but not so many that you don't know where to start. The Wedding Ring is a community and a concept that's designed all around what real brides need and what professional wedding vendors have every right to expect.
