Money Saving Tips for Planning Your Wedding

Prioritize

The best wedding planning advice that I ever received was to rank what was important to me from most important to what I could do without. When the budget doesn't allow for every whim and wish, think about which elements you envision in your perfect wedding day. Make those specific things your priority and work your budget out from there. There are no rules that say that every wedding must have $200 glass slippers (as beautiful as they are)... so if that's not important to you, don't stress about it! Spend the money on what will make the day memorable for you.

Communicate

It's easy to sometimes forget that the people you are hiring for your wedding day services are people... with so little time on your hands during the planning process, sometimes you neglect to communicate with them. By taking the time to really talk with your potential wedding professionals, you will not only make sure that you've got the right match for what you want for your wedding... you can also work out how their services can fit into your budget. There's no harm in being completely honest about how much you have to spend on a particular area, and working with them on making it happen.

Hire

While the word hiring does imply spending money, this one task can quite possibly save you the most. By hiring the right experts to help you, you can feel safe knowing that your money is well spent.

Research

By taking on the responsibility of researching what tasks, knowledge and experience are needed to make a successful wedding, you will be able to easily spot which professionals can be trusted with the job. Talking with other brides who have gone through the same things that you have, reading articles and planning books, and, well... by visiting The Ring... you can learn the ins and outs about who you need to do what. You might even realize that you can do some of it on your own. And you'll definitely learn that the least expensive professional isn't always the best, or the best suited for what you need.

Improvise

Now's the time to get in touch with your creative side! Maybe you have the talent to hand make your own invitations... or maybe you want to tackle making your own wedding cake. With a little improvising combined with knowing your own strengths you can cut costs and have fun. Throw a party to have your bridal party, friends and family help you with whatever you've decided to try doing yourself. That's what they're there for!
