Hamilton couple, Rebecca Asuncion and Christopher Kawamura, have a wedding story that spans North America, beginning in Miami, Florida and ending at the Hamilton Convention Center. With two weddings, a cruise, lots of family, and plenty of fun and creativity, this is one bride and groom that certainly didn't shy away from a challenge...
Rebecca Asuncion and Christopher Kawamura first met through mutual friends over a bowl of Vietnamese Pho noodles in 2003. Their friends took it upon themselves to slip Chris' number into becky's purse after he admitted having a crush on Rebecca. Rebecca (who had a bit of a crush herself) obviously agreed wholeheartedly when friends suggested Chris take Becky to the Victoria Day weekend BBQ. That was just the beginning of things to come.
The couple made their relationship official May 19, 2003, which is when Chris says they both knew they were meant to be together forever. Becky says she doesn't think there was a specific moment when she knew things were meant to be. "I guess it's one of those things that just creeps up on you... You know that you were meant to be together forever." Once Becky realized she didn't want their relationship to end, she started to think about her future as one that included Chris.
"I love the way he can make me laugh... No matter how crappy my day has been, I always look forward to coming home because I know my husband will be there and he can make me smile."- Becky
Becky says that when she's with Chris, she can totally be herself because he knows her better than anyone.

Chris found himself in love with everything about Becky. He opted to honour a long-time tradition and first asked for Becky's Dad's blessing before asking for her hand in marriage in 2006.
"If I had to choose one thing I loved the most, it's the way Becky loves me and the way she makes me feel. She loves and accepts me for who I am. She doesn't try to change me and she lets me be myself. She makes me feel like I can do or accomplish anything."
-Chris
He proposed to Becky on the eve of their first trip out-of-country together. They were in Becky's room - she was living in off-campus housing in Westdale (Hamilton area). As she sat at the edge of her bed, Chris got down on one knee and asked for her to marry him. Becky said yes and remembers still being in shock as Chris slid the ring onto her finger.
