If you’re hosting an outdoor reception, consider bringing your indoor décor outside with you! In this Alice in Wonderland style design palette, Mercy Nleya-Ncube of Elegantly Unique (out of London, Ontario) mixes traditional china with modern porcelain dinnerware and linens in burnt orange and lime green. The table comes with a sprinkle of Mad Hatter-esqe clutter via crystal jewels, fuschia flowers and miscellaneous table wear.
Working from an online photo of Alice in Wonderland, Joanne of JoRa Wedding Cakes designed this white, green and pink wedding cake to carry through the theme. Joanne uses sugar to top the cake with pink edible flowers in dark and light shades. Some gold, twisty wires and a green tone-on-tone damask ribbon (made from icing) come together in a big, sweet bow, which ties directly into the colour and style of linens and dinnerware on the table.
This design palette works well with long rectangular tables. Bring in some antique chairs in different sizes and shapes, mix velvets with organzas, lace with satin... Most importantly, embrace clutter! Mercy uses a crystal chandelier to contrast the spread. The chandelier could be hung from the beams of your reception tent or from the branches of a nearby tree. ■
