DESIGN PALETTE: crystal chandeliers
From the Design Palettes feature in the Fall/Winter 2010 issue of The Wedding Ring Magazine
This entire palette is designed around one of our favourite things - Do it in Style’s seven foot tall, spiral, crystal chandelier. It delivers on bling and trumps all else when it comes to contemporary style. So we ran with it - adding classic black, greys, whites and creams. This palette is more about texture, shine and sparkle than colour. Mary and Maria use a curtain of crystal and silver beads overtop of satin white fabric for the backdrop. These crystal curtains can be used to separate space or glam up a wall. Brushed and sleek silver can be found in accent pieces and at the base of the willow branch centrepiece. Crystals are spilled loosely over any and every open table space.

You can add a touch of colour by setting purple votives within silver or white candle holders, giving a soft, glowing accent. Mary and Maria wrap ‘diamond’- encrusted belts around the centrepiece base as well as in the sash of the dramatic, black satin chair covers. Circle-shaped mirrors amp up the sparkle and tie in with the circle pattern on the white table overlay.
(MORE) IDEAS: If you’re thirsting for contrast, this design palette looks fabulous with any hue, from fuscia pink or classic red to ocean blue. To maintain your level of contemporary glamour throughout the details, try adding self-sticking crystals or black satin ribbon to stationery, selecting strappy silver sandals with crystal embellishments, or adding edible crystals to your cake.
