Jeanette Andrade and Pasquale (Pat) Soscia were brought together in the summer of 2007 by two friends, a lounge in Mississauga, and a bit of courage. Originally from Cambridge, Jeanette was working in Toronto that summer. One evening, she and her friend Caterina visited a lounge where Pat and his friend Fabio were also hanging out. As Caterina and Fabio started chatting almost right away, Pat was left all but speechless, obviously captivated by Jeanette. But Pat found his voice again. “By the end of it all I had enough courage to ask for her number.” Jeanette and Pat started dating shortly after that encounter.
Pat knew Jeanette was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with after they had a conversation one night about their families. “While listening to the stories Jeanette had about her brother, sisters, and their families, I said to her that I was falling in love with her,” Pat told us. “She was the most amazing person I had ever met who has so much confidence, beauty, and love that I wanted to spend every minute with her.”

The proposal was simple and perfect. After spending the September long weekend with those same two friends (Caterina and Fabio) in 2008, Jeanette and Pat found some alone time. Pat had been carrying the ring with him the entire weekend, aiming to pick a moment that was just right before popping the question. “We were in Cambridge at a small park that Jeanette’s mom and dad had been to on a few occasions during their younger times,” explains Pat. “We sat on a bench and started reading together when I suddenly dropped to one knee and popped the question. She made me wait for a few seconds before saying yes. I knew she was teasing me. It was perfect.”
