About Allure Photography…

“I love giving my couples something so timeless, capturing a moment and an emotion so that it can be remembered and treasured for generations to come.”

Shannon says she learned a LOT about the ins and outs of wedding day photography from over the years. The experience taught Shannon the art of being able to shoot from different angles to get something special, knowing that my coupes can look at a photo I took on their wedding day and recall the experience, the flood of emotions.. Brings me so much joy. This approach explains a lot of Shannon’s love for a photojournalistic shooting style, that can be seen amid her portfolio of images that range from posed magazine style to pure candid.

In 2012, Shannon opened the doors to Allure Photography, which she operates out of Cayuga, Ontario (about 35 minutes from Brantford and Hamilton). She offers wedding, engagements and portrait photography services and is more than willing to travel to do so.

Having shot over 60 weddings as the lead photographer and over 150 as a second shooter, Shannon continues to hone her skills by attending yearly photography conferences and workshops with top Canadian photographers. Although she owns her own business, when she isn’t shooting for her clients, Shannon continues to work as a second shooter for many talented photographers.

Marissa and Biagio first met Shannon at Biagio’s brother’s wedding and they instantly fell in love with Shannon’s personality…

“She is very easy to work with and makes what could sometimes be an awkward moment, much more comfortable.”

Melissa and Biagio both loved Shannon’s style. Melissa adds, “I also love her ability to capture important details. Shannon seeks the most candid of moments for photos.”

Blessed with incredible clients and a dream job…

When asked to describe her ideal bride, Shannon says she likes a bride who values her memories, who is laid back and wants to have fun.

“My ideal bride is a rule breaker when it comes to tradition and wants her wedding day to be about spending time with the people she loves!” – Shannon

When it comes to finding inspiration, Shannon continues to look to the couples who entrust her to capturing their wedding moments. “I am blessed to have some great couples who trust me to document their wedding day. I love getting to know them,” she says, adding that she likes to learn their likes and dislikes, goals, story of how they met and what they love about each other. This allows her become emotionally invested in her clients. “I have a great deal of compassion for them I want them to love their wedding day. I want them to feel comfortable around me so that they are themselves and express their emotions,” she explains.

Katie and Ben hired Shannon because of her amazing portfolio and due to the fact that Katie had worked with Shannon before. “I loved how Allure would capture every moment of the day and the photos showed an authentic experience. I also loved how she encouraged us to come up with our own ideas about capturing something personal to us that had meaning (for instance, she took fun pictures of us to incorporate Ben’s position as a soccer referee, took some of us with our dogs, and of us “performing” to incorporate our love of music. I am a singer and play guitar and Ben is a drummer.”

The photography process…

On the day of the wedding, Shannon works with a second shooter. “I have an amazing crew of second shooters who work with me on the day of the wedding, but all the day-to-day operations (editing, meetings, and engagement sessions) are handled by me.”

Working as a team to document the entire day, Shannon and her second shooter split up in the morning. The second shooter covers the groom and groomsmen, while Shannon goes to the bride’s house to document getting ready and the finishing touches. Later in the day, Shannon focus on the newly married couple, while her second shooter photographs the reception room and get candid shots of the guests.

According to Marissa, Shannon also introduces games into her photo sessions to help break the ice for couples and their guests.

On Katie’s wedding day, Shannon was able to adapt and get creative when a bad storm blew in. Considering how many outdoor photo ops were planned, Shannon was able to come up with alternative shots under a covered areas outside the venue. “In most of the outdoor shots, you can’t even tell it was a torrential down pour,” Katie says. Shannon also used the rain to her advantage and captured some truly unique photos. “Fortunately later in the day, there was a break in the rain so she quickly grabbed Ben and I and was able to get a few originally planned outdoor shots further into the golf course where we were married.”

Allure Photography packages…

Shannon’s full day wedding package includes luxe albums made in Canada, custom made frame collection, 2 photographer, and according to Shannon a whole lot of passion. “It’s my best selling package,” she says, referencing the full day coverage. “They don’t need to worry about squeezing everything into a teeny tiny timeline. They just know that all the main events will be covered and it’s totally affordable.”

When asked about Allure Photography’s prices, Marissa admits they were quite comparable to other photographers they had researched.

Katie also found Allure Photography’s prices to be very reasonable. “Many photographers have a package that only lasts 8 hours, but Allure was there the entire day so we didn’t miss a moment,” she says. “We had an amazing experience working with Shannon. She is kind, fun, and genuine. She made us and everyone at our wedding comfortable, and was very professional. She seamlessly captured amazing moments and memories we will always cherish. She was so easy to work with and so willing to work with us to grant our wishes.”

Allure’s packages range from $999 to $3750, ranging in hours and services such as second shooters, online galleries, print products and more.
