In 'the old days' (ie the old chat boards), I think it was about more than just the chat boards. They helped create friendships that have lasted for years. In fact, many of those past brides still hang out online to this day, but in our parents site instead.

To unite and indulge in all things weddings, girls would get together, go out for drinks, have pot lucks and more. The Ring also hosted Bridal Basics sessions (wedding planning how-tos), the odd Fantasia party or bridal show/event and other such things. Also, the girls in the boards always responded to posts, whether or not they knew the answers to them, just to show their love and support for another bride on a mission.

So here are a few ideas Carla & I came up with for striking things up for our chatting brides again...
    - a Brides Club, maybe monthly, where you girls can unite in person as well as online, form friendships, share ideas and swatches and pics and stressed. The Ring would be happy to host it, or you could do it at your own homes or a restaurant.
    - a fun challenge or giveaway geared to posting in the boards, such as 'introduce yourself to win a...' or 'tell your engagement story to win a....' or 'earn points by sharing your ideas'...
    - a movie night/sleepover that's all about the wedding movies, popcorn, and old fashioned girl time
    - create new topics that are more specific, such as colour schemes and wedding themes

What do you think rainstar?

Ooo! I love those ideas Jenn! I would suggest forums for specific areas - like London, Hamilton, Toronto, etc. so that brides in the same geographical area can chat about their local venues, vendors and even get together for a coffee!
