Doesn't anyone wanna get married outside anymore? 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi All

I am having one hell of a time finding an outdoor venue aside from my own backyard.
My fiance and I are known for having people over for bbq's and campfires, so we don't want to be restricted to a stuffy hall, with roasted chicken and veggies..

I am looking at doing something outside, renting a tent, and having a caterer that does bbq, but its almost impossible to find something in the waterloo region.

Help?

Hi Lisa,

There's 2 locations that are reviewed in The Ring that do both outdoor ceremonies and receptions.
-NithRidge Estate Weddings & Events (in Ayr): www.theweddingring.ca/reviews-in-the-rin...te-weddings-a-events (they have an amazing amphitheatre-style ceremony site with the Nith River as a backdrop, and a tent reception venue, both on-site).
-The Waterlot Restaurant & Inn (in New Hamburg): www.theweddingring.ca/reviews-in-the-ring/the-waterlot

Both have on-site caterers and would likely be willing to accomodate any of your menu requests, including a BBQ.

There's also a few outdoor ceremony locations that may accommodate an outdoor reception, too, with a tent, including the Bingemans Pavilion.

You may also want to look into Golf & Country Clubs in the area - most of them host outdoor ceremonies and may accommodate outdoor receptions, too. Select the category Golf & Country Clubs and Kitchener-Waterloo from the drop-down menus near the top of this page.

If you do end up hosting the wedding in a backyard, or at a venue that allows outside caterers, most caterers are willing to accommodate any requests (like a BBQ). Two that come to mind that we happen to love are H&M Catering and Indulge Natural and Organic Kitchen. Also, Roy-Al Rentals & Party Centre in Guelph is awesome for all your outdoor wedding needs.

Hope this helps. Happy planning!

Thanks Carla

My budget is pretty limited, so when it comes to planning this wedding, its pretty tough.

We are looking for a space where we can have a tented reception, possibly outdoor wedding, depending on the weather of course, and with a casual bbq style menu. But we still want our guests to be comfortable with having enough facilities like washrooms and stuff.

I did call leslie at the waterlot and hopefully she can give me some guidance as to what we can do.

Maybe I'll have to opt for a Friday wedding to cut costs...

Check out Victoria Park with the City of Kitchener. I think you can do the ceremony on site and they have a pavillion you can go to for the reception. Here is what is on the City of Kitchener website:

Victoria Park Pavilion
This stately facility overlooking Kitchener's showcase Victoria Park offers a multipurpose room with stage and capacity for 250. This premier wedding reception venue is also an ideal location for banquets, presentations and stage performances. This popular site books quickly so call well in advance for availability. For more information about rental opportunities at Victoria Park Pavilion, call 519-741-2488.

Any recommendations for outdoor locations in the Hamilton area? (other than a golf course... they seem to be pricey).

Hi Lauren,

The Hamilton Civic Museums has a few outdoor ceremony and reception venues:
Fieldcote Memorial Park
Dundurn National Historic Site
Whitehern Historic House & Garden
Battlefield Park

They're ceremony locations more than reception locations, but depending on how rustic you want to be, they have picnic areas that can seat up to 120 people, which you could use as the reception space.

The Royal Botanical Gardens is also a gorgeous venue and can host both the ceremony, photo shoot and reception all in one place, with back-up indoor locations for the ceremony if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Two venues to hold your wedding reception:
-The Gardens' Cafe (can accommodate 80 to 120 guests)
-The Auditorium (can seat 120 to 300 guests)

Ceremony:
-Royal Court - outdoor area that seats up to 140 guests.
-Atrium - seats up to 120 guests
-Hendrie Park Gardens, Rose Garden Tent

Hope this helps get you started! I'll let you know if I think of any more.
