We are trying to plan our stag & doe.... what did you guys use as your door prize? Did you have more than 1 big ticket item? Did the wedding party share the costs of this?

What games did you find successful?

We haven't had ours yet (and not completely sure if we will) but I helped to plan my step-sisters when she got married a few years ago.

I think we had maybe 3 "bigger ticket" items and then smaller prizes. Most of them were donated from friends and family.
Yes, the bridal party helped to cover costs, but everyone was given their money back after the party.

As for games, the toonie toss is always successful (people throw toonies towards a 60 of booze, whoever is closest wins the bottle)
We also had 2 boxes that said "his" and "hers", the bridal party carried them around the room for awhile and collected money from the guests to see who should get a pie in the face. Whoever collected the most got the pie.

50/50 draw works too.
Good luck!

I helped my nephew plan his last year. There were several larger door prizes as well as smaller raffle prizes. You can have guests buy raffle tickets in order to try and win the prizes (you can buy those liquor type of tickets at a party or dollar store, and use those to raffle off the prizes) you guys keep the money from the sale of the raffle tickets.
Not sure if your stag and doe will be liquor related, but we sold test tube shots of liquor to guests, for a buck or two a piece and the bride/groom kept the money from the shot sales (you don't need the test tubes, but could set up a table with shot glasses and a few liquor options). They also had a poker table or you could do several and split the winnings 50/50 between the couple and ultimate winner at the tables.
You could go on www.kijiji.ca and in the services area, under weddings you could post an ad to request door prize donations from businesses in return for having their business cards or brochures on display at your stag and doe.
Yes, the wedding party did split the cost of running the stag and doe but be very careful who you select to organize it,and handle the money. We had alot of problems including some members of the wedding party pocketing what they felt was rightfully theirs before truly sitting down and determining who should get what. Good Luck
